NARRATIVE REPORT
DIVISION SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE 2024

The Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held at Pinamalayan,

Oriental Mindoro from March 6-9, 2024, proved to be an enriching experience for all
participants, most especially to the young journalists of the Division of Oriental
Mindoro. This activity served as a culmination of months of preparation and
dedication.

On the first day (March 6), I stood alongside our eager young journalists at the
Punzalan Gymnasium, filled with anticipation for the events that lay ahead. The
opening ceremony served as a reminder of the significance of this gathering as rules
and regulation were meticulously discussed, ensuring that everyone was well-versed
and ready to tackle the challenges of the contest.

On the second day (March 7), there were several changes on the time of the
different competitions, so everyone was all ear in the announcement. When it was
time to take the challenge head on, we went to the contest room and provided little
advice to my editorial cartoonist. It was a day marked with determination and
perseverance and a showcase of journalistic talent from across the division.

As the night descended on the third day (March 8), the Punzalan Gymnasium
played host to a gathering of School Publication Advisers for the election of the new
set of officers. It was a moment of both anticipation and reflection, as we deliberated
on the individuals best suite to lead our division forward. In a humbling turn of event,
I was honored to be elected as the District Representative for San Teodoro, a
responsibility I accepted with unwavering dedication and commitment to the
advancement of journalistic excellence.

On the fourth and final day of the conference (March 9), emotions ran high as
participants gathered for the closing ceremony and the much-awaited awarding of
the Top 10 winners in various competitions. While the outcome may not have been
as desired for all, the event served as a testament to the resilience and
perseverance of each participant. Despite the disappointment of not clinching a spot
in the Top 10 for editorial cartooning, I remained steadfast in my resolve to continue
honing student-journalists and embracing every opportunity for growth.

In the poignant moment of unity and solidarity, young journalists and teacher-
coaches took the oath as the new sets of officers for Oriental Mindoro School
Publication, symbolizing the collective commitment to upholding the ideals of
journalistic integrity and excellence.

As we bid goodbye to Pinamalayan and embarked on our journey home, I

carried with me not only the memories of the DSPC but also the invaluable lessons
learned, and the friendships forged along the way. Armed with newfound knowledge
and a renewed sense of purpose, I looked ahead to the future, eager to continue in
the ever-evolving realm of journalism.
