educational system.
b. List some reasons for the need of Guidance and Counselling.
c. Value Guidance and Counselling as a subject and as a tool in catering the
needs of people in a society.

B. Review
(True or False) Write T if the statement is True and F if it is false.
_______1. Counsellors help people resolve conflicts even if the concern is
developmental.
_______2. School counsellors have nothing to do with curriculum development.
_______3. Building rapport with clients is essential in any counselling setting.
_______4. Counsellors are also needed in private companies.
_______5. Community counsellors work only in communities, and not with various
age group.
C. Motivation

 (Give Me) The teacher will show pictures of things that need something; e.g.
dried plants = needs water. The students will identify these needs.

D. Presentation

 The teacher will present an article that explains the reasons of the
establishment of Guidance and Counselling in the educational system as an
introduction.

E. Discussion

 Unlock key terms for vocabulary skills.


 Discuss the factors that are responsible for the development of Guidance and
Counselling.
 Explain these factors and why these needs must be catered.
 Give situations for analysis.
 Motivate the students to engage in active interaction.
 Acknowledge questions and opinions.

F. Application

 Group the students into five (5).


 Set the time for five (5) minutes.
 Let each group list as many reasons for the need of Guidance and
Counselling.
 The group with the most reasons after the allotted time will be given highest
points.

G. Generalization

 Guidance and Counselling activities should be based on the needs and total
development of every person. It is the duty of all personnel in a setting to
identify the needs of individuals so that programme activities can be designed
to meet such needs.

IV. EVALUATION

Identify the needs in the given situations:


1. In technical and sub-professional sectors, there is a noticeable shortage in
manpower.
2. Youths are learning to adjust to changes resulting from physical and social
relationships.
3. Most parents, because of the demands of their jobs, pay very little attention to
the development of their children. Some parents are even bad examples.
4. Students have different personality make-up and traits that may influence
what course and school to study.
5. Technological breakthroughs would lead people to change their jobs, relocate
and update and trade in education more often to remain employable or
competitive.

V. ASSIGNMENT

1. Explain why Philippines needs Guidance and Counselling in the


educational system through an essay.
