Lesson Plan Project

Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

Learning target is to have students able to volley a birdie back in fourth in the game of
badminton.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Objectives for my lesson plan is to have the kids practice drills to get into the rhythm of getting
the birdie over the net and receiving the birdie on the way back.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

The students will get into groups of 4, having 2 on each side of the net. Students will then
grab their rackets and will be given a birdie when ready. I will be with a group and give them
an example of what it looks like to hit the birdie and receive the birdie. I will let them play on
their own then give them tips and teach them when needed. After I feel they are getting better
with minor errors I will let them play and have them advance and learn from each other.
CCSS Rationale (Describe the specific Common Core State Standards addressed during the teaching
of this lesson plan.)

Standard 2: Students demonstrate knowledge of movement concepts, principles, and strategies

that apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
I will be giving the students a demonstration of what to do and how to do it, they will eventually apply
that to themselves to perform greater.

Standard 4:
Students demonstrate knowledge of physical fitness concepts, principles, and strategies to
improve health and performance.
After being instructed students will understand that progression is key. They will know that they will not
be the best at badminton at the start but will take time to get better.

Standard 1:
Students demonstrate the motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of
physical activities.
Students will combine manipulative, locomotor and nonlocomotor skills to hit, rally, and receive the
badminton.

Instructional Procedures

 Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

I will get my students to stay focused on my teaching by using a voice to hold their
attention while also showing my amazing incredible badminton skills so it would be
hard to look away.

 Instructional Strategies (Click into that link for help describing all instructional methods you will
employ during the lesson. Remember, instructional strategies fall into one or more of the
following broad categories: DIRECT, INDIRECT, EXPERIENTIAL, INTERACTIVE,
INDEPENDENT STUDY)
Direct instruction, Interactive, Experiential, Independent.

 Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

It will be a hands-on activity so they will all get their own rackets to practice and learn
with.

 Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

I will be walking around seeing their progression and seeing how they are doing and
asking to see if help is needed.

 Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

I will end the lesson by making sure all the materials are back where they were found
and is all organized. Next I would thank the class for participating and tell them they all
did good and that they learned a new skill they can take anywhere.

 Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

I will assess that the students achieved the lesson goals by watching how they played
and if they learned anything. Most importantly if they had fun.
