Please note that these are examples only — in the short interview, only a selection of questions will be
asked. These questions are majorly asked during the credibility interview and in the final interview at
British High Commission Islamabad. Please go through all the questions mentioned in this document and
prepare for everything. Questions could be outside below mentioned details or in other words too IDP
takes no responsibility that only these questions will be asked in both the interview.

 Why do you want to study in the UK?


 What are the benefits of studying in the UK compared to your home country?
 Why did you choose this College/University?
 Which other colleges/universities did you consider?
 Where is the University?
 Do you know anyone who has already studied there?
 Do you know how large the university is, how many students?
 Why did you choose this course and how does it relate to previous study?
 How do you explain the gaps in your study history (if relevant)?
 What is the relevance of the course to your future career path?
 What qualification will you receive?
 How long does your course last?
 How is your chosen course assessed?
 Did you consider any other course?
 Does this course offer any professional recognition?
 Are you planning to stay in the UK on completion to study for a higher award such as a
Masters Degree?
 Are you thinking of transferring to another institution on completion?
 What facilities are you expecting at the college/university?
 What accommodation you have selected.

Course / Institute and Intention to Study Questions


It is essential the student is fully aware of all relevant details relating to their intended course of study
(hours per week, core modules, relevant awards and assessment methods etc.) and the reason behind
their choice to study the course and why they chose the intended Institution.
Students should be prepared to answer questions about their intentions after the intended course
whether this relates to further study (progression to a UK University for example) or ultimately to return
to their home country.
It is also very important the student knows the type of entry clearance (i.e. type of visa) they will be
applying for enter the UK and to study and what conditions and restrictions the visa might have (i.e.
working rights, type of study allowed etc.).
 Why do you want to study in UK?
 What are the benefits of studying in the UK compared to your home country or
USA/Canada/Australia etc.?
 Why did you choose this University/College?
 How did you find about it?
 Which other colleges/universities have you considered?
 Where is the college/university?
 Do you know anyone who has already studied there?
 Do you know roughly how large the college/university is?
 Why did you choose this course and how does it relate to your previous study?
 How do you explain the gaps in your study/professional history?
 What is the relevance of the course to your future career path?
 What qualification will you receive?
 How long does the course last?
 How is your course assessed? (apparently frequently asked and students do not know)
 Do you know what level your course is at?
 Did you consider any other course?
 Does this course offer any professional recognition?
 Are you planning to stay in the UK on completion to study for a higher award?
 Are you thinking of transferring to another institution on completion?
 What facilities are you expecting at the college/university?
 Do you have relatives who have studied at similar level or studied overseas?
 Do you think your course is appropriate for someone your age?
 Will you need help finding accommodation?
 Do you need a meet and greet service?
 Do you understand the responsibilities of students entering the UK under Tier 4 of the PBS?

Financial Questions
The student should also be prepared to answer questions relating to the financial and employment
situation of the person(s) (parent or legal guardian only) who will be covering the costs of the course and
maintenance fees. Government Sponsored students must ensure they know the full details of their
sponsorship and what exactly is covered and what (if anything) they must cover themselves and how this
will be funded.
 What is your current occupation?
 Who is financing your studies?
 What is the profession of your financial sponsor and what relationship they have to you?
 Do you have evidence of the financial status of your financial sponsor, e.g. bank statements for
last 6 months, bonds, investments, etc.?
 Are you able to verify the genuineness of these documents?
 Can you prove the money is available for study?
 Would you be able to pay your tuition fees in full up front?
 Have you checked the refund policy?
 Do you know what your accommodation will cost in the UK?
 Do you know how much your living expenses will be?
 Do you know whether you are entitled to work part-time in the UK?
 Do you know how many hours are you allowed to work?
 Do you know the likely hourly rate of pay?
 How reliant are you on being able to work?

With reference to your interview, kindly note down the questions below for
your information on which you need to work thoroughly. The details are very
simple but you still need to understand that you must have to practice every
question.
 What Is your name
 What is your father’s name
 What is your date of birth/place etc
 What is your passport/cnic number
 What is your last qualification/name of school/subjects you have done etc.
 Why are you applying to UK and why not any other country
 Why are you applying to THIS UNIVERSITY and have you applied any other college as well.
 What is your research about Your UNIVERSITY
 What do you know about UNIVERSITY
 What other courses offer by UNIVERSITY
 Which course you choose to study at UNIVERSITY
 What are the facilities provided at University/College
 What is the structure of the course
 Why are you going for THIS COURSE
 What you will do after your foundation course OR AFTER YOUR COURSE.
 How your course will be assessed Assesment
 What are your future plans
 Tell us about you course which you are going to study at this UNIVERSITY Course
contents/duration/everything about the course
 Who is the awarding body of the final degree?
 Course start date and course end date
 Tuition fee of the course.
 Who is your sponsor?
 What is your tuition fee and living expenses?
 Where you will be staying in UK
 Who has given you the money to put into your account?
 How the funds are available for the next few years
 Do you want to do a job in UK during studies?
 Do you have relatives in UK
 Do you want to work in the UK
 What will you do if you are allowed to work?
 What your brother is doing in UK
 DO you want to stay in the UK
 What job opportunities you have after completion of you studies in UK.
 What kind of career your are looking after having this degree.
 Will you come back to Pakistan

Must go through the University Website /prospectus/offer letter/CAS letter to understand


everything. Please go through these and do practice with me on phone as well. Now your visa
depends upon your interview preparation, your communication skill and body language.

UK VISA CHECKLIST
 Visa Forms (It will be filled online)
o Print out of VAF9 form filled online on the website.
o Appendix 8 Self-Assessment Form filled manually.
 Bank Statement and Letter (both of them should be original on letter head, signed and
stamped. Two original copies of both the document are required, which means 2 statements
and 2 letters).
 CAS Letter
 ATAS (If applicable)
 TB Test Report
 IELTS
 All Academic Documents Original (Degrees, Mark sheets and Certificates)
o Masters
o Bachelors
o Intermediate / A Level
o Matric / O Level
 Original Passport
 Original NIC
 Mother and Father DOB, Place of birth, names according to passport or NIC.
 If you are using your parents account then please bring the following documents
o NIC original and English translations of student, mother and father.
o Birth Certificate
o FRC (Family Registration certificate)
 Two photocopy each of all the documents and UK visas.
 ACCOMATION CORRESPONDANCE
