1 Hi everyone! I’m Hang Ho. We come back with a very interesting topic today: People at Festivals. In
this part we’ve going to learn vocabularies about face and body. We also practice listening for details.
The grammatical point have got is also mentioned in this part. After learning vocabularies, we will
practice pronunciation on sound and spelling. And finally, we practice talking about topic People.

2 Firstly, let’s learn some vocabularies about face and body.

Please write these words in the correct place on the picture.

The correct answers:

1. Hair

6 Ok, let’s practice listening now. Look at the two photos from the same festival in Spain and answer the
questions.

1. What are the people doing?

You see, in photo 1, the people in costumes are dancing; people are watching; in photo 2, people
are making a human tower.
2. What clothes are they wearing?

In photo 1, some people are wearing big masks and historical costumes; in photo 2, people are
wearing light, blue and white clothes and black belts.

Skip extra activity 2

7 Ok, now listen to a conversation about the two photos. Number the photos (1–2) in the order the people
talk about them.

Audio

The answers are:

1. the human tower

2 the dancers in costumes and masks

You can hear in the audio, they mention the human tower first.

Audio

One person says “Oh, this is in the afternoon and they’re building a human tower.” And then, they talk
about the dancers in costumes and masks. One person says “This is in the evening and there were these
dancers. They’re wearing costumes and they’ve all got big masks over their heads. I don’t know how
they’re dancing!”

So the photo of human tower is number 1 and the photo of dancers in costumes and masks is number 2.

8 Ok, let’s get vocabulary practice now:

Words for parts of the face and the body are missing from these sentences. Try to remember the words.

Ok, now listen again and check.

Audio.

Let’s check the answers

1. The people at the bottom put their arms around each other.

2 Other people push them forward with their hands.

3 Then four people climb up and stand with their feet on the other people’s shoulders.

4 I think people on the bottom have to be strong and hold onto the other people’s legs.

5 They’ve all got big masks over their heads.

6 The faces are amazing. They’ve got huge eyes and big mouths.

7 He hasn’t got any hair but he’s got a big black beard.

9 have got

We can use have got instead of have. We use have got to talk about:

• appearance
She’s got blue eyes.

• possessions
I’ve got a new smartphone.

• family
Max has got six brothers!

10 Note that we can use ’s to mean is or has. In ’s got, it always means has.

We don’t normally use a past form of have got. We usually use the past form of have (had or didn’t
have) instead.

Stephan had got long hair when he was at university.
