    Specimen: PARTIAL THYROIDECTOMY

    Electronically verified report. No signature required. Lab reports should be interpreted by a physician in correlation with clinical and radiologic findings.
    Gross: Specimen received in formalin consists of one lobe of thyroid measuring 8.0x3.2x21.5cm). It is inked blue.
    Weight is 50grams. Serial slicing reveals multinodular cut surface. No calcification, no area of hemorrhage
    are identified.
    Representative sections are taken in five blocks as A1-5.
    Microscopy: Histological examination of the sections reveal variable sized follicles lined by follicular epithelial cells
    having regular nuclei. Follicles are filled with colloid material and surrounded by fibrous bands of variable
    thickness. No grooves or pseudoinclusions are identified. No granuloma is seen and there is no evidence
    of malignancy.
