In the Beginning “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth.” This powerful opening line sets the stage for the incredible story of creation.
Six Days of Creation
1. Day 1: Light and Darkness o God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. He separated light from darkness, calling the light “day” and the darkness “night.” 2. Day 2: Sky and Waters o God created the expanse of the sky, separating the waters above from the waters below. He called the expanse “sky.” 3. Day 3: Land and Vegetation o God gathered the waters to reveal dry land. He created plants, trees, and all kinds of vegetation, each bearing seeds for future growth. 4. Day 4: Sun, Moon, and Stars o God made the sun to rule the day and the moon to govern the night. He also created the stars, filling the vast expanse of the sky. 5. Day 5: Birds and Sea Creatures o God filled the sky with birds and the seas with fish and other creatures. He blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply.” 6. Day 6: Animals and Humans o God created land animals, from tiny insects to majestic elephants. Then, in His image, He made humans—Adam and Eve—to care for His creation.
Rest on the Seventh Day
On the seventh day, God rested, seeing that everything He made was very good. This day became a day of rest and worship—a reminder of God’s creative power and love.
