Assure that the latest Revision Level Assembly Drawing is utilized.
All 2” 1502 hammer union connections must be verified with FMC’s Go/No-Go
Gauge (PIN P511389). The following statement must be included on shipping
paperwork:
“Supplier has verified through use of FMC’s Go/No-Go Gauge (PIN P511389) that
all external 2” hammer unions are 1502.

1. Lay SHACKLE (700-NT-60) on rig floor with lifting chain side up.
For small hooks, use the optional NUT (700-NT-31A). For larger 500+ ton hooks,
use the large girth SHACKLE (700-NT-60A).
2. Attach hoist line to lift chain and raise SHACKLE up to lie into hook. Lay lifting
chain in hook if possible.
Assure that NUT (700-NT-31) is screwed halfway out or more and that SET SCREWS
are in place, but not tightened down.
4. Pull latch pin and open door of SHACKLE.
Do not hang the tool in the SHACKLE with the NUT at or near the “bottomed
out” position. This will allow the NUT to be made up to provide some movement,
enabling the elevators to be unlatched should the tool become inadvertently
Bulldogged.
8. Pick up tool with hoist and insert into open door of SHACKLE with NUT as close
to bottom of hook as possible.
12. Make NUT up tight against bottom of hook using ½” rod in holes provided.
14. Lift up into derrick such that the ends of the 2” HOSE are level with the rig floor.
17. Tie chain around derrick leg and secure with clasp provided.
19. Tie chain around blocks and secure with clasp provided.
22. Remove THREAD PROTECTORS (700-NT-64) from lower pin end of packer
and box end of Flex Hose/Check Valve.
5. Install THREAD PROTECTORS on lower pin on packer and box end of Flex
Hose/Check Valve.
6. Place hoist line around CE tool below the Ring Weld (or Running Plate if used).
Pick up slightly on CE tool.
9. Lower the HOSE assembly down to rig floor and coil for shipment.
Attach hoist line to chain of SHACKLE and pick up to unlock and open door on
hook.
1. The 2” HOSE used in this assembly is a reinforced neoprene and hypalon Hose
rated at 3,000 psi working pressure and a minimum burst pressure of 10,000 psi.
The temperature range is -40°F to +200°F and it is resistant to oils and other
drilling fluids.
2. To prolong the service life of the HOSE, Do Not bend or flex the HOSE to a
diameter smaller than 36”. Do Not subject HOSE to tension or torque. This can
place excessive stresses on the reinforcement and severely reduces the ability of
the HOSE to withstand pressure.
3. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and heat sources. Store HOSE assemblies
out of direct sunlight and in a cool, dry place.
5. Prior to storage, the threads and inner surfaces of the hammer unions should be
doped or coated with a rust preventative and the HOSE should be flushed out with
fresh water.
6. After every other job or sooner if suspicious conditions exist, pressure test the
hose to 3,000 psi for 15 minutes to confirm the HOSE as safe and operational.
1. Visually inspect the welds that connect the “U”shaped shackle to the bottom plate
for cracks or other signs of failure.
2. Inspect the rubber seal and machined sealing surfaces on the hammer union
connection, for damage. During storage, the threads and the inner surfaces should
be coated with suitable rust preventives.
3. Inspect the swivel connections to verify its fitness and function. Grease the
swivel using the zerk fitting on the elbow.
5. After every other job or sooner if suspicious conditions exist, pressure test the
assembly and connections to 3,000 psi for 15 minutes to confirm assembly
integrity.
6. Inspect the attached chains for cracked welds, bent links and other signs of
damage.
