2 marks each respectively.

of 5 marks has been provided. An internal choice has been provided in the 2 marks questions of Section E.

In the given figure, D and E are the mid-points of equal sides AB
and AC respectively of triangle ABC. Prove that BE = CD.

In the given figure ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral and O is the centre of the
circle. If ∠BOD = 160°, find ∠BPD.

Q36. Case Study – 1

Mathematics teacher of a school took her IXth standard students to show Gol Gumbaz. It was a part
of their Educational trip. The teacher had interest in history as well. She narrated the facts of Gol
Gumbaz to students. Gol Gumbaz is the tomb of king Muhammad Adil Shah, Adil Shah Dynasty.
Construction of the tomb, located in Vijayapura , Karnataka, India, was started in 1626 and
completed in 1656. It reaches up to 51 meters in height while the giant dome has an external diameter
of 42 meters, making it one of the largest domes ever built. At each of the four corners of the cube is
a dome shaped octagonal tower seven stories high with a staircase inside. Using the given
information, answer the following questions.

I. What is the total surface area of hemispherical dome? 1

II. What is the circumference of the base of the dome? 1


III. Find the cost of painting the dome, given the cost of painting is `100 per m .2

Case Study – 2
Q37. ABCDE is a village in quadrilateral shape. The panchayat has decided to use the triangular area APD
for girls’ education by constructing schools and colleges especially for girls as shown below. But
members of panchayat have some queries.

I. If ∠PAD = 30° and ∠PDA = 60°, what is the measure of ∠APD? 1


II. If AP || BE then what is sum of ∠PAB and ∠ABE? 1
III. If ABCD is a rectangle and AP and DP are the angular bisectors of ∠BAD and ∠CDA respectively, 2
then what will be the measures of ∠PAD and ∠PDA?

If ABCD is a rectangle and BC = CE = 10 km, find the area of ΔBCE.
Case Study – 3
Q38. Deepak bought 3 notebooks and 2 pens for ` 80. His friend Ram said that the price of each notebook
could be ` 25. Then three notebooks would cost ` 75, the two pens would cost ` 5 and each pen
could be for ` 2.50. Another friend Ajay felt that ` 2.50 for one pen was too little. It should be at least
` 10. Then the price of each notebook would be `20.
Lohith also bought the same types of notebooks and pens as Deepak. He paid ` 110 for 4 notebooks
and 3 pens.

I. Form a linear equations in two variables for Deepak’s purchase by taking cost of one notebook as ` x 1
and cost of one pen as ` y.
II. Form a linear equations in two variables for Lohith’s purchase by taking cost of one notebook as ` x 1
and cost of one pen as ` y.
III. Find whose estimation is correct for both the given statements-Ram or Ajay? 2
