RELATED LITERATURE
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Dr. Ben Ohuruogu (2016) stated that modest physical exercise and
the emphasis on incorporating it into daily life provides extra chances for
inactive people to enhance their health by engaging in physical activities that
are delightful, personally significant, and easier to integrate into regular
routines.
engaging in physical activity can help prevent mental health issues like
depression.
Mental health
Arent. et al. (2020) also examined that the effect and mechanism of
physical exercise commitment and adherence on college students’ life
satisfaction and provided new supporting evidence to deepen the
understanding regarding its benefits. Numerous theoretical viewpoints have
explained the decrease in negative psychological reactions, such as
depression and anxiety, and the increase in psychological adaption brought
about by physical exercise.
PSYCHOLOGICAL
depression.
EMOTIONAL
Yujing Sun,et al (2014) stated that jazz dance may be one of the
effective exercises to improve one's health. However, the effect of jazz
dance exercise on different physical activity level and whether the intensity
of jazz dance exercises can improve physical and mental health
simultaneously and efficiently need to be investigated.
The results showed from the study by Mikkelsen et al., (2017) that
there were significant differences in depression and anxiety before and after
the intervention. People who regularly take part in aerobic exercise
contribute to their mental health, mainly by reducing adverse reactions
caused by depression and anxiety. They can promote self-esteem, spirt and
improve their mood by increasing positive reactions.
A research study by Mason and Holt (2012) observed that the society
is moving towards a culture of promoting positive mental health within
mental health services, and more focus is needed on the positive
contribution that physical activity can exert on life and recovery from mental
illness. Physical activity and can be expressed in forms of low intensity,

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Allan B de Guzman. et.al. (2015) also stated in his study that physical
activity was found to have a direct effect on the mobility of elderly patients.

In addition to this, Zada (2021) stated that these physical skills are
important for overall physical development, and can also help to prevent
injury. Finally, physical activities can help to build self-confidence and team
work among students. Through these physical activities, students can learn
to work together as a team and become more confident in their abilities. This
can have a positive effect on their overall learning experience, as well as
their attitude towards physical education.

certain stressors that may have great affect to their performance, thus
seeking out and accepting changes is beneficial for most students, because
some of them are experiencing old age might get the feeling uneasiness and
discomfort in their academics.
William Jo Se M. Billote, et.al (2020) says that one of the main causes
of loss in the world is mental illness. It accounts for one-third of the global
populace. A growing number of people worldwide are experiencing mental
health issues, and nations like the Philippines are still working to solve the
issue of offering high-quality mental health care services.

Research Respondent
According to the official records of the office of the Registrar, the total
number of the Second year BPED Students of Gensantos Foundation
College INC. One hundred eighty-nine (189) Calculating the sample size
using Slovin’s formula, the respondent of this study is one hundred sixty-one
(161) students.
In accumulating data for the study, the researchers will ask a permission
through a letter to school administration, for floating of survey questionnaire
to the respondents. The survey will be conducted among the respondents
during the classes. After accomplishing the survey questionnaire, the same
will be collected by the researchers, transcribed and merged the data
analysis
Statistical Treatment
This study will analyze the data collected through the use of quantitative
analysis and statistical analysis as it gives the researcher the chance to get
expressive information through mean output. The use of average weighted
19
mean will help the survey if the mean is in line with the view. The researcher
will also use Slovin's Formula to identify the sample size to the collected
data. In addition to this, we will be utilizing Likert scale to determine the
scale of the weighted mean.
The researcher will use the following formulas to analyze the result of
survey.
Slovin’s Formula
It is used to calculate the sample size (n) given the population
size (N) and a margin of error (e).
N
It is computed as : n=
(1+ Ne 2)
Where:
n= the number of samples size
N= the total population
e = error margin / margin of error
To use the following formula, we will determine the error of tolerance. In this
case, our research used a confidence level of 97 percent (giving a margin
error of 0.03) and plugged in the population size which resulted with the
number of samples needed to take.
The researchers will utilize Manual tally as the statistical tool for reorganizing
and analyzing the survey data. To address the following Statement of the
mean will be used. For SOP 2, we will evaluate the correlation between
0-20%.
Below is the Formula that will be used in treating the data gathered:

CHAPTER Ⅴ
SUMMARY FINDINGS, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
The study aimed to investigate the relationship between physical activity and
mental health amongst the second-year Bachelor of Physical Education
students by focusing on physical activities such as dancing, walking, and
jogging. Additionally, it sought to determine the extent of this relationship in
terms of emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
2. Based on the following results from the survey that was conducted. The
total average weighted mean that was calculated for physical activities
resulted to 4.15. The factors under the questions for physical activities
includes dancing, jogging and walking. Furthermore, the following results
from the survey that was conducted for mental health resulted to a total
36
average weighted mean of 4.18. The factors under the question for mental
health includes emotional, psychological and social well-being.
3. Based on the following results for solving for the correlation between
physical activities and mental health, we used the Pearson R formula to
analyze the outcome by using the total average weighted mean for physical
activities and mental health which resulted to 0.99.
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn:
2. The survey results indicated a high average weighted mean for both
physical activities (4.15) and mental health (4.18) among the participants as
majority of the verbal interpretation resulted to “Agree”. This suggests that
the students are engaged in physical activities such as dancing, jogging, and
walking, and report a high level of emotional, psychological, and social well-
being.
RECOMMENDATION
The researchers believe that the results of the study will be beneficial to the
following groups by providing insights into how physical activity can affect
mental health:
2. Teachers: Teachers can gain more knowledge about how various physical
activities can help improve students' mental health and personality
development, allowing them to better support their students. Besides
incorporating physical activities into lessons, teachers can develop and
design interdisciplinary projects that combine physical education with other
subjects that correlated to their mental health and encourage student
participation in physical activities, and create a classroom culture that values
and rewards active lifestyles.
4. Students: The study can provide students with valuable information about
how physical activity can positively impact their mental health. Students
may also be encouraged to form peer groups or clubs centered around
physical activities they enjoy, use school-provided resources like gyms or
sports fields regularly, and actively participate in school events that promote
physical fitness, thus taking charge of their own mental health.
5. Researchers: The researchers will gain insights into the specific effects of
physical activity on the mental health of second-year BPED students,
contributing to their field of study. Furthermore, they can also publish their
own findings in accessible formats, collaborate with educational institutions
to implement their recommendations, and seek funding for further studies
that explore different aspects of physical activity and mental health, ensuring
a broader impact.
