Soap Carving Instructions

The document presents instructions for carving teeth in soap as part of a dental morphology practice. Students must carve soap rectangles and squares of specific sizes and use them to carve teeth models following detailed steps. The objective is to develop manual skills and apply anatomical knowledge to replicate dental structures on a full scale using soap.

MODALITY:
SOAP CARVING INSTRUCTIONS:
General objective:

1. Achieve skill and dexterity for the preparation of future dental

structures and crowns.
2. Allow the student to transfer theoretical knowledge of dental anatomy
(morphology) to full-scale structures.
3. Use glycerin soap of any color as a preparation medium.
4. Manage to obtain perfect rectangles and squares, with the
measurements required for the activity.

Requirements:
1. achieve rectangles of 3cm x 1.5 cm., quantity 4.
2. achieve 2.5 cm squares. x 2.5 cm., quantity 2.
3. The aforementioned elements must have smooth, regular and shiny
surfaces, with acute angles at all their intersections.
4. The required structures must be presented in the time and deadline set
by the teacher.

Materials:
 Glycerin soap quantity 4.
 Stocking panty.
 Knife.
 Thick cardboard.
 Rule or square.
 10cm x 10cm thick glass tiles, quantity 2.
 Cotton.
 Corresponding spatulas (lecron, wax and godiba).
 Photocopies of: Manual of applied functional dental anatomy,
author: Mario figún.
 Small box containing structures.
 Metal or plastic meter foot.

Manufacturing technique:

1. Eliminate irregularities on the surface of the soap, leaving a regular

block.
2. Design the rectangles and squares with a ruler, leaving an excess margin
of approximately 3 millimeters, for subsequent roughing and polishing.
3. set the perfect measurements of:
 rectangle 3 cm. x 1.5cm.
 Square 2.5 cm. x 2.5cm.
4. With the warm cardboard box, we proceed to cut the soap.
5. With gentle and measured wear, you reach at least one millimeter of
the required measurement.
6. With the thickest part of the panty you proceed to use the soap.
7. Using the thinnest part of the panty, the finest wear is made and the
final measurement requested is reached.
8. With cotton you give it the final shine.
9. With the meter foot the exact measurements of the rectangle and
squares are verified.
10. Once the teacher gives his approval, begin the carving of the
required teeth as follows:
11. Mark on the soap structure the three thirds required for carving
(crown, root, base).
12. Draw on the faces of the rectangle and square the shape of the
required tooth (buccal, incisal or occlusal, palatal or lingual, distal and
its root portion with its base).
13. The excess soap is gradually removed, giving it the shape drawn on each
of the faces of the soap block.
14. Finally, with cotton we give the shine and presentation of our tooth.
