DATA SHEET

1. Name: Goldstein Social Skills Checklist

2. Author: Arnold Goldstein

3. Administration: Individual and Collective

4. Duration: Between 15 to 30 minutes, including instructions.

5. Application: To adolescents from 12 onwards.

7. Material: Copy of the social skills checklist and manual for qualification.

This test was constructed by Goldstein (1978) and adapted by Tomás (1995).

The initial objective of the checklist is to determine the deficiencies and

competencies that a person has in their social, personal and interpersonal

skills. On the other hand, this instrument evaluates not only the extent to

which people are competent or deficient in the use of a social skill, but also in

what type of context it is presented. The test allows obtaining precise

information about the level of social skills that the subject has in their

Behavioral repertoire. It is made up of 50 items grouped into 6 areas:

I. Basic Social Skills.

II. Advanced Social Skills.

III. Skills related to feelings.

IV. Alternative abilities for aggression.

V. Skills to cope with stress.

VI. Planning skills.

Thomas, A. (1995), when analyzing items from the Social Skills Checklist,

found significant correlations (p < .05, .01 and .001), leaving the instrument

intact, that is, with all its items complete since they did not there was a need

to eliminate none. With respect to reliability, the test retest method was

used, obtaining r=.61 and t= 3.011, being very significant (p<.01), all item values

demonstrated precision and stability over time.
