Face Recognition through Facial Features

Abstract :
The proposed system applies to Police Institutions all across the country and speciIically
looks into the subject oI Crime Records and Face Recognition oI a Criminal. It is well
understood that Crime Prevention, Detection and Conviction oI criminals depend on a highly
responsive backbone oI InIormation oI a Criminals. The eIIiciency oI the Policing Iunction and
the eIIectiveness with which it tackles crime depend on what quality oI inIormation it can derive
Irom its existing records and how Iast it can have access to it.
It is proposed to centralize InIormation Management in Crime Ior the purposes oI Iast and
eIIicient sharing oI critical inIormation across all Police Stations across the territory. Initially, the
system will be implemented across Cities and Towns and later on, be interlinked so that a Police
detective can access inIormation across all records in the state thus helping speedy and
successIul completion to cases.
The project has been planned to be having the view oI distributed architecture, with centralized
storage oI the database. The application Ior the storage oI the data has been planned. Using the
constructs oI Oracle 8i and all the user interIaces have been designed using the Java, Servlets
technologies. The database connectivity is planned using the 'JDBC Connection methodology.

easy retrieval oI inIormation in support oI crime detection.
W Project is best suited Ior law and enIorcement agencies, criminal identiIication
and security management Iunctions.
W This project intends to develop simple and eIIective methods Ior Iast
personal(Iace) identiIication.

isting System:
The existing system contains the about all the police stations that are registered as per the
jurisdiction oI the system. It also gets integrated with the employees who are working in these
stations along with their designation
The old system oI record keeping -- handwritten or typed Iiles -- has been replaced. Criminal
records are now mainly stored on computer databases. The Iirst level oI database storage is at
state and local levels. Every police agency that makes an arrest retains a record oI it, just as every
court that convicts someone oI a crime retains a record. All court convictions are public record
and can be searched and viewed by anyone.
The next level oI database storage is statewide repositories. Each state maintains inIormation
about arrests and convictions within its borders. However, each state has diIIerent regulations
about which crimes must be reported to the repository. In some states, it's not mandatory that this
inIormation is reported, so it's done on a voluntary basis.

Problem Statement:
The existing system doesn`t have system security. That means, the user can login in to system anywhere
in the world. But the data in this system is not Ior public. To avoid this problem, the proposed system is
developed as MAC enabled website. That means, the user can access the website in that system only, so
that we can avoid the inIormation leakage problem.

Proposed System :
The system aIter careIul analysis has been identiIied to be presented with the Iollowing modules:
Police stations registration module : This module maintains the inIormation about all the police
stations that are registered as per the jurisdiction oI the system. It also gets integrated with the
