1. Submarine - How to Sink? How to Float?

How to Sink:

A submarine sinks by increasing its density to be greater than the surrounding water. This is

achieved using ballast tanks. When a submarine needs to sink, the ballast tanks are filled with

water, increasing the submarine's weight and causing it to descend.

How to Float:

To float, a submarine reduces its density to be less than or equal to the surrounding water. The

ballast tanks are emptied of water and filled with air. This decreases the submarine's weight,

allowing it to become buoyant and rise to the surface.

2. Which Type of Lawn Sprinklers Work Best?

The best type of lawn sprinkler depends on the size and shape of the lawn:

- Oscillating Sprinklers: Best for rectangular lawns as they move back and forth to cover a large area

evenly.

- Rotary Sprinklers: Ideal for medium to large lawns with circular areas. They spin to distribute water

in a circular pattern.

- Impact Sprinklers: Suitable for larger lawns and can cover large distances with adjustable spray

patterns.

- Drip Irrigation: Efficient for gardens and areas with plants that need direct watering to the roots,

reducing water waste.

3. Which Material Can Be Charged with Static Electricity?

Materials that can be easily charged with static electricity include:

- Plastic: Items like plastic combs and rulers can gain static charge when rubbed against materials

like wool or hair.

- Glass: Can be charged by rubbing with silk.

- Rubber: Balloons rubbed against hair or wool can hold a static charge.

- Wool: Can transfer charges when rubbed against other materials.

These materials gain or lose electrons, creating a static charge.

4. How Do Aeroplanes Fly? What Is the Best Wing Shape?

How Aeroplanes Fly:

Aeroplanes fly due to the principles of aerodynamics, mainly involving lift, thrust, drag, and weight.

The shape of the wings (airfoils) is crucial. When air flows over the curved upper surface of the wing,

it moves faster than the air below the wing. This creates lower pressure above the wing and higher

pressure below, generating lift.

Best Wing Shape:

The best wing shape for most aeroplanes is the aerofoil shape. It has a curved upper surface and a

flatter lower surface, optimized for creating lift efficiently. The exact design can vary based on the

aircraft's purpose, with some wings designed for speed (swept-back wings) and others for stability

and control (straight wings).
