SECTION – A (READING)
Q 1. Vitamins and minerals are natural substances found in a wide range of food and
are essential for maintaining a healthy body. Vitamin A keeps the eyes and skin
healthy and helps protect against infection. Vitamin A is found in milk, eggs
and vegetables such as pumpkin, carrots, spinach and broccoli. Vitamin B is
good for the nervous system and is found in green vegetables. Vitamin C helps
the immune system by fighting infection. Vitamin C is found in citrus fruits
like strawberry, kiwi, guava, chili and tomato. Vitamin K helps in clotting of
blood. Beans, peas, and turnips contain vitamin K. Calcium is essential for
healthy teeth, bones, hair and nails. Potassium regulates muscles and nerves
and prevents high blood pressure. All vegetables contain potassium. Iron is
essential for red blood cells. Iron is found in vegetables like spinach, leeks and
mushrooms. Vitamin C also helps in the absorption of iron in the body. We
should avoid the loss of vitamins by applying the peel. Vegetables should not
be soaked in water as it leads to deficiency of Vitamin B and C.

Answer:
This is a picture of me and my friends camping. We camped in the woods for
the night. We were surrounded by lofty hills and evergreen forest. There was a
crystal-clear lake. A gentle breeze was blowing. We sat around the campfire
and chatted. It was a beautiful starlit night.

Ans. Heidi quickly gathered a bunch of sweet-smelling flowers and held

ate the flowers out of Heidi’s hand. Meanwhile Peter got on to his feet
again and pulled the goat back to safety.
(b) What is the poet’s advice to every child?
Ans. The poet’s advice to every child is that they should never be afraid as
we are always surrounded by our friends in the nature around us.

Ans. Amit’s Mother felt that it was time to intervene and set some ground
rules for his time because his mathematics teacher had called her, and she
was unhappy with Amit’s grades.

had no energy to hit ball. This poor performance could impact the
interschool match that was to be held in two weeks.
