not been fully reconstructed. However, due to genetic and linguistic analysis, the X are certainly a racially
mixed group with them having varying degrees of Iranian, Mongolic and Turkic ancestry in addition to
sharing common physical attributes, culture and partly language with Central Asian Turkic tribes and the
Mongols.
The etymology of the term X is disputed but might be derived from the Persian word for "thousand" which
itself may be the translation of the Mongolic word (mingghan), a military unit of 1,000 soldiers at the time
of Genghis Khan.
The X are considered to be one of the most persecuted groups in Afghanistan and their persecution has
intensified with the coming of the taliban.

Until 1831, The Ludlow Castle in Delhi had been the home of Samuel Ludlow - the
Residency Surgeon. The building would later become the Residency, and was the site
of a battery employed by British troops during the Siege of Delhi in 1857 to successfully
breach the Kashmiri Gate bastion. Therefore the building was seen by Indians as a
symbol of enslavement and was demolished in 1960s to make room for the expansion
of a school. Ironically, in 1879, this building - which at the time served as the home of
the Chief Commissioner of Delhi - would host a man who, in his home country, is
associated with feelings quite opposite to what we associated with the building he was
hosted at. Who is this man/What is he known for?

The regimental song of the Assam Regiment is an ode to a rifleman. After his
death, the quartermaster did not remove his name from the rations roster and
the company continued to draw rations in his name.
This extra ration helped the company survive through a siege when
Japanese troops surrounded them during the Battle of Kohima and supplies
were cut.
Accordingly, the song was composed in the rifleman’s honour with the lyrics
"We get rations because ________'s body is buried beneath".
What is the regimental song of Assam Riffles?
