Ans. The writer calls Professor Branestawm’s laboratory his ‘inventory’ because it was the place where he
experimented with different liquids. He was always inventing something or the other hand. He used to remain
immersed in his world of inventions all the time.
2. What was the one regret that the Professor had about his invention?
Ans. The one regret the Professor had about his invention was that it cost more to make the liquid which
brought pictures to life than it would to buy the things themselves.
Ans. The confusion was started by an awful smell in the Professor’s house. Mrs. Flittersnoop was making
cakes in the kitchen when an awful smell reached her nose. She wondered from where the smell was coming; it
could neither be coming from the drains because they had been cleaned the day before, nor from the larder.
Later she found out the smell was of the liquid which the Professor had invented.
