TUTORIAL ON UNIT 3

EXERCISE 1.
The opposite figure shows the waveforme of the voltage u(t)
« direct current » supplied across an active electrical dipôle.

Determine :
1) the frequency of u(t)
2) the average value and the rms value of u(t)
3) the ondulation rate of u(t)
4) the form factor and the peak factor of u(t)

EXERCISE 2.
The opposite figure shows the waveforme of the current i(t) « DC »
supplied in a passif dipole. Amplitude of the current i(t) is 1.76A

Determine :
1) the frequency of u(t)
2) the average value and the rms value of u(t)
3) the ondulation rate of u(t)
4) the form factor and the peak factor of u(t)

EXERCISE 3.
The opposite figure shows in dotted line the voltage u (t )
at the output of a rectifier supplied by a a sinussoidal voltage
having a frequency of 50Hz . α is an unknown angle.

EXERCICE 6.
An industrial electrical network consists of three simple dipoles connected to same voltage source.
Energetic characteristic of the three dipoles are:
− Dipole DP1 : P = 5kW ; cos ϕ(AR ) = 0,8
− Dipole DP2: S = 4kVA ; Q = 2k var
− Dipole DP3 : S = 6 kVA ; cos ϕ(AR ) = 0,9

1) Determine the complexe power and deduce the power factor of the electrical network.
2) Deduire from 1) the parameters of the model of electrical network represent on the above figure.

EXERCICE 7.
The opposite figure shows in (a) a tripole extract from a
single phase electric circuit. This tripole consist of three
complex impedances connected in triangle :
Z12 = 10 Ω / 0° , Z23 = 10 Ω / 30° et Z13 = 15Ω /− 30°

Calculate the complex impedances Z1 , Z2 et Z3


of tripole connected in star (b) electrically equivalent
to the tripole (a).

EXERCICE 8.
The opposite figure shows an active electric circuit, having two independent
sinusoidal voltage sources of same frequency. Determine :

1) the Thevenin equivalent generator looking at its therminals.


2) the short circuit current of the circuit.

EXERCICE 9.
A voltage source is modelized by an e.m.f EG= 50 V/ 45 in serie with a complex
impedance ZG = 2,64Ω + j0,72Ω supplies a load with a variable
complex impedance ZL , as shown in the opposite circuit.

1) The load is a pure resistance ZL = R L . Determine the value of R L for


a maximum power transfer. What is that power ?
2) The load is a resistif-reactive element ZL = R L + jX L ; R L et X L varies indefinitely. Determine R L et X L
for which the maximum power transfer is obtained. What is that power ?
3) The load is a resistif-reactive element ZL = R L + jX L ; R L varies indefinitely. Determine R L et X L
for which the maximum power transfer is obtained. What is that power ?

EXERCICE 10.
Consider the opposite circuit where voltages sources are defined using their complex
symbols of rms E1 = 10 V/ 0°
E 2 = 5V/ 30° . D is considered as reference for the potentials.

1) Establish the matrice equation of mesh current I′1 , I′2 et I′3 .


2) Establish the matrice equation of node potentials V A , V B et VC .
