Assignment Projects 14 DNA
Assignment Projects 14 DNA
Objective – At the end of this project, the student will acquire skills to work on
Networking and Cisco technologies. Additional objective is to create an extended
awareness about Cisco networks.
Project Insights –
1.1 Since students are already aware about Networking and Cisco concepts, in
this project they should be able to
• Demonstrate virtual network design for a Local Co-operative Bank
• Demonstrate network design for a Hospital located in Tier-3 town
• Demonstrate SOHO network design with Guest network
• Demonstrate Router security by using ACL
1.2 Facilitator must involve students to work on thought points like
• Importance of networks and network security in various IT sectors like
banks, stock market etc.
2.1 First group should be assigned the topic to demonstrate a network design
for Local Co-operative Bank
• Project scope - A network proposal/design has to be developed for a
bank. The bank has a main office, which is located in Mumbai and has
3 branch offices located at Pune, Chennai and Kolkata. The bank has
an application server, which is used by it’s customers across the India
for online transactions. All the branches have high speed internet
connection. There are approximately 100 users in each of the branch
offices and 200 users in the main office.
• Guide the students to document the following
o Identify Hardware components required to setup the network
for the Bank.
o High availability solution for application server
o IP network design which includes IP address for all devices in
network.
o Network topology diagram with the commands used.
• Use packet tracer to demonstrate the project
• Note, participation of group members is very important in these
activities.
• Students in this group must document the process and results.
• Project Scope
o A network proposal has to be designed for a hospital. The
hospital has a main block and three wards in the campus. The
main block is the administrative block where registration of
new patients takes place. The hospital has identified hospital
management software, which should be accessible by the
employees. The software is installed on a server at the
administrative block. At the ground floor, there are 15
computers at the billing section. The distance between the
wards and the blocks are less than 80 Meters.
• The facilitator must guide the students to use Packet tracer to
demonstrate the network topology
o The report should consist of, Hardware components required,
Network topology diagram, IP network design table, Network
testing and verification.
• Students will face some issues here, they must learn to troubleshoot
the various error codes generated during this process.
• Document the process and demonstrate the results.
2.3 Third Group is assigned to design a “SOHO network with Guest network”
• Project Scope
• A small business network has to be designed for an
organization. The company has approximate 10 guest users
visiting the office. There are a total of 35 users in the
organization. A Windows FTP server is also available for sharing
files.
• Facilitator must emphasize on following documented requirements
• Identify the hardware required to setup the network.
• The guest network should be restricted to access only FTP
service, all other services are blocked to guest users. Note
Guest users should connect their mobile on WiFi Guest access
only.
• Document the configuration commands on network devices.
• Show the network topology diagram with IP address
• Note the errors and troubleshooting steps during this process
• Document the process and demonstrate the results.
