Why time matters?

“ The importance of time...

Can a trader take a trade at any given time of the day or night? Certainly.

Is it the appropiate time to expect a sustained price run that will likely engage in a
particular from of liquidity? That is the most important factor in smart money and
algorithmic price delivery.

Focus on the highest probability time when a specific price delivery will unfold.

As ICT mentioned, while it is possible to open positions at any time of the day, it may not be ideal.
There are specific times when significant activities occur, influencing price movements. These
fluctuations can impact the outcomes of our trades and the decisions we make. Therefore, it is
crucial to be mindful of these key periods to optimize trading results.

Specific timings may be diferent for indices and forex,

Killzones
The killzones are basically time frames with high trading volume and volatility in the
market, resulting into good trading apportunities and better price action due to the
liquidity injection.

Asia Kill Zone (08:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

The ICT Asian kill zone marks the initial strategic phase in the forex market,
characterized by the prime pairing of the Australian Dollar, New Zealand Dollar, and
Japanese Yen. These pairs thrive in this timeframe due to their heightened activity,
leading to a tendency for the US Dollar to primarily consolidate during this session.

London Kill Zone (02:00 AM – 05:00 AM)

The ICT London kill zone emerges with the commencement of the London session,
boasting the highest trading volume among all sessions. Euro (EUR) and British Pound
(GBP) take the spotlight as the prominent pairs during this timeframe. The London
session presents the greatest likelihood of significant directional movements within a
24-hour period.

NY Kill Zone (7:00 AM – 09:00 AM)

The ICT New York kill zone corresponds to the commencement of the New York session,
spotlighting pairs associated with the US dollar as crucial to observe and trade during
this period.

Open times
Usually open times for each killzone/session si where most of the volatility kicks in, as
the redundancy says, markets open and liquidity is injected into the session.

Session open times:

London session open - 2:00 AM

New York AM session open - 9:30 AM

New York PM session open - 13:30PM

Asia session open - 20:00 PM

True day open - 00:00

Indeed, session open times can often establish the initial direction for trading, as
market participants react to new information and adjust their positions accordingly.
However, due to the potential for manipulation and volatility around the open, it's
prudent for traders to exercise caution and wait for confirmation before entering into a
trade based solely on the initial market movement at the session open. This approach
helps mitigate the risk of being caught on the wrong side of a sudden reversal or
manipulation.

Macros
The macros serve as concise directives for the algorithm to identify alternative setups,
signaling either a reversal or continuation of the current trend.

These happen usually at specific times:

London Session macros

Macro 1 - 2:33 - 3:00

Macro 2 - 4:03 - 4:30

NY AM Session macros

Macro 1 - 8:50 – 9:10

Macro 2 - 09:50 – 10:10

Macro 3 - 10:50 – 11:10

Lunch Session macros

Macro 1 - 11:50 – 12:10

NY PM Session macros

Macro 1 - 12:10 – 13:40

Macro 2 - 15:15 – 15:45

In the algorithm, we examine specific time windows for accumulation, manipulation, or

expansion. We check if prices surpass old highs or lows (manipulation), form positive or
negative breakers (expansion), or consolidate (accumulation). Understanding these
instructions within macro windows helps predict market movements.

News
Timing of news releases is crucial as they can significantly influence market direction,
leading to substantial movements in both directions before, during, and after the
release.
