SETTING UP THE PROJECT


⌘ opt N New project

⌘ N New composition
Set pixels to 1920 wide.1080 high
15:00 seconds

ADDING FILES
⌘I add a loop or picture file
or just drag it into the PROJECT pallette from
your desktop

DRAG THE FILE FROM YOUR PROJECT


PALLETTE INTO YOUR COMP PALLETTE
AFTER EFFECTS 1
“>” represents menu items, substitute the control key for ⌘ in windows, and the alt key for option

NOW IT WILL APPEAR IN THE PREVIEW


PALLETTE

From the pulldown in the bottom left of the


pallette, select FIT

NEXT Just move the corner handles to fit its in


the preview palette or
⌘ opt F to fit it automatically

NEXT SELECT the loop in the the composition


palette
move the timeline slider to the middle of the
clip
Edit>split layer
or ⌘ shift D

it will turn into two clips


DRAG THE TOP ONE TO THE LEFT WHILST HOLDING the SHIFT KEY. notice it snaps into place at the blue tab
DRAG THE BOTTOM ONE TO THE RIGHT WHILST HOLDING the SHIFT KEY. notice it snaps into place at the blue tab

FADING THE TOP LAYER


click these triangles till you see “Opacity”
or just hit the T key

move the timeline slider to the start


then click on the stopwatch
you have now created a KEYFRAME (blue diamond)

move the timeline slider to the middle of the lower clip


then click here (Not on the stopwatch)
to create another a KEYFRAME (blue diamond)

move the timeline slider 2-3 seconds to the right


t create another a KEYFRAME
ADJUST THE OPACITY SLIDER TO 0

this is how it should look

TEST THE LOOP


hit the spacebar to play. You may have to move the
keyframes, make sure the ends of the timeline are showing
make sure the left end of the top clip is lined up with the start
of the timeline and vice versa

EXPORT THE LOOP


Composition> add to render Que
click here and specify a location to save

then click here

EXPORT THE LOOP WITH WAY MORE OPTIONS FOR FILE SIZE
CODEC, ETC
Composition> add to adobe Media Encoder Que
