I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;

A. State what is Interpersonal Communication;


B. Distinguish the types of Interpersonal Communication;
C. Recognize the Strategies for Effective Interpersonal Communication and;
D. Apply the variety of Strategies for Effective Interpersonal Communication
through group work, and activity.

The teacher asks question;

C. Motivation
The teacher gives a short activity to the students, entitled “COMPLETE
ME”.
After the students complete the word, the teacher asks one of the
students to go in front and say the correct word.
Directions: Complete the letter of the word according to its meaning.

Interpersonal Communication
- Often includes face to face and online exchange of messages which
may be in form of a certain tone of voice, facial expressions, body
language and gestures.

TYPES OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION

- Is a type of dyadic communication that requires questions and
answers.

- Is a type of dyadic communication which is an informal talk between
individuals.

STRATEGIES OF EFFECTIVE INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION

 Non – Verbal Behavior


- Look at the person – use eye contact
- Smile and nod in agreement
- Use open positive posture
- Display interest
- Be aware of own body language
 Acceptance
- Listen with unbiased and open mind
- Focus of attention on listener, not on your ideas or opinions.
- Allow people time to talk
 Understanding
- Use probing in a helpful way to follow up
- Paraphrase and summarize to let the listener know you are listening
and to give them a chance to correct misunderstanding.
IV. Application
The teacher groups the students into three, each group will choose two
members of the group to perform the task in front. Each group has three minutes to
brainstorm and another minute to perform it in front.
The name of the group work entitled “ACT ME”.
