Motivation:
Suppose you were the person in the pictures. What could you be thinking or saying?
Write your answer in thought bubble or speech balloon.

What made you write those thoughts or speech?
Do you think that communication within oneself and other people differ?
If you were to choose, what would you prefer, to share your thoughts with a group or to
keep it for yourself?
Why do you think it is necessary to act differently whether you are communicating with
yourself, with a group or a huge audience?

Statement of Learning Outcomes:


Communication goes beyond knowledge of elements like the sender, message and
receiver. As its very essence, communication is and act or a process that produces results. It is
crucial for us to know the strategies that make it effective and efficient. By mastering the tactics of
communicating with various audiences—small groups, large groups, and even the self- we can
competently convey our insights properly.

1. Reading Activity
The students will read a selection entitled Three day to See by Helen Keller and will
answer the following questions.
a. How would you describe Helen’s relation with other people?
b. How does she relate with herself?
c. In the essay, with whom does she communicate?

2. Work in Pairs
The students get a partner and will conduct a dyad about their personal activities in
school and at home.
They may also ask each other questions like:
Do you have a hectic schedule? What makes it hectic?
Do you cope easily with the work demands in school and at home?
What activities interest you the most?
What activities do you like otherwise? Why?
After that small talk each should analyze their partner’s answers.
How did their partners reaction affect their sharing of experience?

The students will report what happened during the discussion.
