‘JODHPUR’. Find the following:

8) IF A and B are two sets such that n (A) =17, n(B) =23 and n(A∪ 𝐵)=38,

9) If n(A-B)=10, n(B-A)=8, and n(A∩B)=3, find:

10) IF n(∪) =40, n (𝐴)=25, n (B) =20, then find

11) In a group of 800 people, 550 can speak Hindi and 450 can speak English. How many can speak
both Hindi and English?

12) Out of 25 students ,15 passed in English ,12 passed in Maths,8 in Science,6 in English and
Math, 7 in Math and Science, 4 in English and Science , 4 in all the three , Find how many passed

i) In English and Math but not in Science


ii) In Math and Science but not in English

13) In a town of 10000 families, it was found that 40% families buy newspaper A, 20% families buy
newspaper B and 10 % families buy newspaper C, 5% families buy A and B , 3% buy B and C and 4%
buy A and C . If 2% families buy all the three newspapers, find the number of families which buy :

i) A only ii) B only iii) None of A,B, and C.

14) Out of 500 car owners investigated, 400 owned Maruti car and 200 Hyundai , 50 owned both
cars . Is this data correct?
15) CASE STUDY BASED QUESTION:

In a survey of 100 students, the number of students studying the various languages were found to
be: English only 18, English but not Hindi 23, English and Sanskrit 8, English 26, Sanskrit 48, Sanskrit
and Hindi 8, no languages 24.

Find the following

I) How many students were studying Hindi?

II) How many were studying English and Hindi?

2) In a class of 60 students, 25 students play cricket and 20 students play tennis, 10 play both
the games. Find the number of students who play neither.
3) If A and B are two sets containing 3 and 6 elements respectively, what can be the minimum
number of elements in AUB? Find also the maximum number of elements in AUB.
4) A market research group conducted a survey of 1000 people and reported that 720 people
liked product A and 450 people liked product B. what is the least number of people that
must have liked both products?
5) Two sets A and B such that n(𝐴U𝐵)=21, n( A’ ∩ B’ )=9, and n(𝐴 ∩ 𝐵)=7, find n(𝐴 ∩ 𝐵)’
6) In class XI of a certain school , there are 20 students in a chemistry class and 30 students in a
physics class .Find the number of students which are either in chemistry class or in physics
class in the following cases:
I) the two classes meet at the same hour.
Ii) the two classes meet at different hours and 10 students study both the subjects.

7) In an university ,out of 100 students ,15 offered Mathematics only,12 offered Statistics
only,8 offered only Physics, 40 offered Physics and Mathematics,20 offered Physics and
Statistics ,10 offered Mathematics and Statistics, 65 offered physics. By drawing a venn
diagram, find the number of students who i) offered Mathematics ii) offered Statistics iii)
did not offer any of the above 3 subjects?
8) There are 240 students in class XI of a school, 130 play cricket, 100 play football, 75 play
volleyball, 30 of these play cricket and football , 25 play volleyball and cricket, 15 play
football and volleyball. Also each student plays at least one of the three games. How many
students play all the three games?
