Articles
In English there are three articles: “a”, “an”, and “the”. Articles are used before nouns
Rule # 1: Use the article “a” only with a singular count noun, use “a” before nouns that begin with a consonant sound.
Examples:

Rule # 2: Use the article “an” only with a singular count noun, use “an” before nouns that begin with a vowel sound.
Examples:
1. An actor 2. An egg 3. An Orange 4. An insect 5. An apple
Rule # 3: Use the definite article the with any noun (whether singular or plural, count or no count)
a) Use the article ”the” when a particular noun has already been mentioned previously.
Example:
I ate an apple yesterday. The apple was juicy and delicious.
b) Use the article ”the” when the noun refers to something or someone that is unique.
