What I am about to teach you in this module is something that I


spent a lot of time and money on in 2013 trying to figure out the
best way to do it.

Why would I do that?

You see...when I started making a full time living online back in


2009, I didn't know how to really sell effectively online BUT the
main thing that I knew that helped was this:

“If you TRY to sell food to a man who is already FULL, you
will have a hard time selling but if you sell food to a man
who is starving, the food will sell itself”

Do you believe that? You should.

In marketing, it is what we call matching the right product to the


right market using the right marketing message via the right
medium.

In the first module, we have already covered all the things you
need to know about creating the products you want to sell which
are short reports in this case.

Even though it is a good thing to create your products, the TRUTH

is that nothing happens until you start to sell them.

Late last year for instance, I was browsing through my computer


when I stumbled on about 8 reports that I created and never sold.
We could say I spent about 2 hours creating each of those reports
which is about 16 hours in total.

If I had spent just 2 hours to create only one report and then
dedicated the remaining 14 hours to selling that one report, maybe
I would have made an extra N1million last year.

What is the point I am trying to pass across HERE?

Selling is the KEY to making money in


this business or in any business for
that matter.

The more you can sell, the more money you can make.

If you master the art of selling, you will NEVER be broke again.

And the good thing about selling is that – SELLING is SELLING!

It does not matter if you are selling short reports or Cars or


Condoms or Laptops or Wigs or Clothes or Baby food or anything...

It still does not even matter if you are selling it online or offline.
Selling is still selling. The basic rules and principles apply.

Before I move on, I need to wash away the negative mindset that
some people have about selling.

Some people have this stupid and ignorant mindset that Selling is
evil and it is manipulation.

Nothing could be more FALSE and I will tell you why.

Now, there is a right way of selling and a wrong way of doing it.

The wrong way of selling is what all these hawkers and some shop
people do when they try to force a product down your throat.

Go to public places especially in Lagos and you will see all sorts of
people trying to sell you one thing or the other in such a way that
gets you annoyed.

That ain't what I am talking about.

This is why selling is a GOOD thing: The first thing you need to
know about effective selling is that you should always sell what
your market WANTS.

In short, you must ONLY sell what your marketplace desires and
this is one of the reasons why choosing a market using the
techniques that I explained in module 1A is crucial.

You must not sell what you think the audience in your market are
supposed to want.

Here is an example I usually use to explain that statement:

If you want to make money for instance and you want to go to

UNILAG to sell to the students there, which of the products below


do you think they are likely to buy most of?

Product A – How to study very well and pass your exams

Product B – Secrets to attending VIP nightclubs in Lagos for free


and meet celebrities like 2Face, WhizKid etc

Which of the 2 products do you think is likely to get you a lot of


sales from the students?

I am waiting for you answer...

….

….

….

Okay, what did you choose?

A non-marketer will look at those 2 products and think that well,


product A is what they NEED to have because they are students.

Duh!

While a marketer will know that these students are likely to buy
more of product B because it is what they secretly desire.

When you can sell to the desires of people especially, their secret
desires, you will have a stress free time selling your products.

Another example:

The normal price of this course is N10,000. Of course, some people


might get it at a slight discount but the main issue that I want to
point out here is this:

If I were selling beautiful shoes, clothes or sex toys at that same


price, I would make more sales than this course with very little
resistance.

Some people who bought this course (maybe you) gave me a hard
time just because they wanted to pay a measly N7500, N8500 or
N10,000.

These are the same people who will take their girlfriends to a
boutique or restaurant and spend more than N30,000 right off on
her without thinking.

And yet, they have to call and email my customer service 17,000
times before they decided to buy a course that will help their
finances.

Why?

It is simple. The level of desires are different.

Despite the fact that we all WANT one thing or the other and we
have the money to buy them, we may not do so UNTIL when

someone who knows how to sell that thing comes our way.

What I am trying to explain here is this:

Effective selling is about knowing the wants and desires of the


people in your marketplace and offering them products and
services to satisfy that desire.

When you do so, everyone is happy. The customer is happy


because they got something that benefits them or improves their
lives in one way or the other.

You are happy too because you made money and made someone
happy doing so.

For instance, you paid me money to get this course and I am happy
because of that BUT I am even more happy when you make use of
this information to make your life better.

So, do you still think SELLING is bad?

If I didn't SELL you this course and kept it all to myself, you
wouldn't be learning all these things that could improve your
finances.

Let's move on to the basic things in this module.

In order for you to create a sales system that will help you to
effectively sell your short reports...or any other products for that
matter, the first thing you have to do is to ask yourself this
question:

Who is my potential customer?

Don't go further until you can answer that question.

Let's talk about that.

How to Identify Your Target Customer


If you want to sell effectively, you need to know that everyone is
not going to be your customer.

Due to this truth, you need to sit down and do a deep research to
know exactly who is likely to buy from you and that is why you
need to choose a market to start with.

So, let's say your choice of market is MARRIAGE. This means you
want to be creating and selling short reports on marital issues to
help people who are married.

That tells us ONE THING right off the bat.

Single people are NOT your target.

But it doesn't end there. You still need to dig deep and figure out
the type of ideal people who go out of their way to buy materials
that will help them with their marriages.

How do you do that?

Now that we have single people out of the way in this case. We still
have to ask some other questions to be able to pinpoint who your
ideal customer is.

Here are some questions that can help to identify your potential
buyers.

1. Are they educated or not

2. Are they men or women

3. Are they religious or not?

4. Are they employed or not?

5. What is their age range?

6. Do they have children?

7. What are their favourite hobbies and interests?

8. Is their a particular tribe that they belong to?

Now, one thing you must NOT do is to guess these things. You have
to really find out what the truth is.

ONE sure fire way to do so is to SPY on other business that are


related to yours and see the kind of people who are buying from
them.

So, to explain this with the MARRIAGE market that I was talking
about, let me now try to answer the questions above and I am
doing this based on the knowledge that I have about some people
that I know who buy books on improving their marriage.

Question 1 – Are they educated or NOT?


Answer – Well, to read books, you have to be educated to start
with but most of these people that I know usually have “above
SSCE” education.

Question 2 – Are they men or women?


Answer – From the people that I know, most of them are women.
Some men buy books on improving their marriages too but
majority of the ones I know are women.

Question 3 – Are they religious or not?


Answer – You can say mainly religious. I know most of these people
from churches. Looks like the church women are more serious
about working on their marriages than others. I can't say much
about Muslim women anyway because I don't really know a lot of
them.

Question 4 – Are they Employed or Not?


Answer – I don't have a clear answer on this one.

Question 5 – What is their age range?


Answer – usually between Age 28 – 45

Question 6 – Do they have children?


Answer – Some have and some don't have but the majority of them
are women with at least one child.

Question 7 – What are their favourite hobbies and Interests?


Answer – Well, I really can't say a lot here but they watch a lot of
Nollywood movies

Question 8 – Is their a particular tribe that they belong to?


Answer – The ones that I know are usually Yoruba or Igbo women.

From my answer to those questions, we may now summarize that


the potential buyer I need to target if I were to go into this market

is:

An educated Yoruba or Igbo woman who goes to church, married


with children and whose age range is between 28 – 45.

Of course, this may not be 100% perfect but it is good enough.


It lets you know the kind of people you should be targeting, the
right words to use in communicating with them and where you
should be advertising to reach these people.

This does not mean you won't get sales from people who are
outside the description of your potential buyer that we just made.

For instance, you might gets some sales from men...from women
who don't go to church or women who are over 45.

That will always happen but knowing who to target will help you to
get better results because you already have an idea about the kind
of people who buy what you are selling.

So, from the example with the marriage market above, I now know
that my marketing and advertising has to be targeted towards an
educated Yoruba or Igbo woman who goes to church, married with
children and whose age range is between 28 – 45.

So, I won't go and advertise my products in a magazine that is read


by men because my target is women.

I won't go and target single people on Facebook telling them that


they are supposed to start planning for their marriage.

When I am writing emails to sell my products, I will write it as if I am

writing to one of the church going women that I know who is


married, educated, has children and whose age range is between
28 – 45.

Talking about writing emails...

Let us now move on to the sales funnel system that you will be
using to sell your short reports on the internet.

Remember...nothing happens until you make a sale.

Let me explain what each of the step on the chart means before I
go on to explain how to apply them effectively.

Bear in mind that we are selling online. So, you are going to need a
website. We will talk about that later on.

TRAFFIC – This refers to people visiting your website...people


visiting any website on the internet is regarded as traffic.

But you just don't want any kind of people to visit your website.
You ONLY want people who are customers or who are likely to
become customers.

The more of good traffic that you get (meaning...the more


potential buyers you get to visit your website), the more money
you make.

Anyway...getting traffic and advertising your website is what we


will be talking about in a different module but this is just to give
you the understanding of what it means.

This is where the sales funnel starts.

REASON: If nobody visits your website, all the other parts of the
sales system are useless.

It is just like setting up a beautiful shop with quality products that


are affordable and a team of friendly staff in the middle of the
desert.

It is useless because there won't be visitors to the shop and you

won't make any sale despite the other things you have put in place.

Squeeze Page – A squeeze page is a page on your website that is


mainly created to register people who are interested in what you
are offering into your database so that you can always
communicate with them.

Some people also refer to it as Optin page or Lead generation page


but they all mean and do the same thing.

For most people, the main information that they collect on the
squeeze page is the email address of the visitor. They do this so
that they can always keep in touch with the visitor. You must have
come across at least one squeeze page before online.

Elements that Make Up a Squeeze Page

There are various designs of squeeze pages but they usually


contain these elements below:

1. A Headline
2. Bullet points
3. An optin form

Those are the basics. Some squeeze pages may also contain
additional elements like:

– A book cover or pictures


– An article
– Testimonies
– etc

However, the most important element on the squeeze page is the


optin box where the visitor can put in their email address or other
contact details to join your list of subscribers.

Here is an example of a simple and well designed


squeeze page below:

A zip file comes along with this particular module that contains
several squeeze page designs that you may choose from and use to
create your own squeeze page.

I will teach you how to create a killer squeeze page later on in this
module. Let me move on to the next item in our sales funnel.

The Lead Magnet


What is the lead magnet?

Before I say what it is, let me tell you what a lead is. A LEAD is
someone who is likely to buy from you because he has shown
interest in what you are offering.

But he is still a LEAD because he is yet to spend money with you.


Another word for a lead is a prospect.

So, a lead magnet is what we raise up to each person who lands on


our page to see if they will be interested because we only need
interested people.

The lead magnet is simply what you are offering on your squeeze
page so that a visitor can sign up with you if he is interested.

If you look at the squeeze page sample that is above, you will find

out that Anik Singal (the owner of the page) was giving away a free
book.

It is not important that what you are giving away on your squeeze
page must always be a free book. Other things that you may give
away are:

– Access to a free article


– Free audios
– Free videos

However, the main thing is that the lead magnet you are giving
away has to be something that is highly related to the main
products that you are selling.

E.g

let's say your market is marriage like we were talking about before
and your main products are different short reports on various
topics in marital improvement.

In this case, it will be STUPID if you now create a squeeze page to


give away a free report that says: “The 5 Minutes Guide To Picking
Up Women on the Street”

it doesn't match. Hope you got the idea.

A free report that says “The 5 Minutes Guide To Picking Up Women


on the Street” will be a very good lead magnet if your market is
dating for men where you sell short reports on various topics that
helps men to get women.

In order to be successful, you must come up with a lead magnet


that has a title that your potential buyers will be interested in.

Remember, the lead magnet must be something that has the


instant capacity of magnetising a lead (someone interested)
immediately the person lands on your squeeze page.

E.g.

If you are overweight and you want to lose weight and you
suddenly stumbled on this squeeze page below, there is a high
probability that you will sign up immediately even though you have
never heard of this guy before.

That is what your lead magnet should do on your squeeze pages.

So, right now, you know that lead magnets usually work with the

lead pages. Right?

Let us go into the next thing on our sales system.

Short Report Offers


Basically, an offer is what you are presenting to sell to your leads.

In this case, since we are selling short reports, you have to offer
one or more of your short reports to them and explain why they
should buy it.

You will be doing this by directing your prospects to the sales copy
that you have set up to sell the short report (the offer)

In case, you do not know what a sales copy is, it is basically a piece
(might be in text or video) that you use to present what you are
selling to people.

So, let me add this up to the other sales funnel element that I have
explained previously.

When a new visitor lands on your website...they have to land on


your squeeze page where you show them your lead magnet to see
how interested they are:

If the person is interested, they will opt-in via the optin form on the
page to get your lead magnet. So if your lead magnet is a short
article for instance, they are directed to a page where they can
read the short article and after they do so, you can now put a link at

the end of the article to send them over to your sales copy where
you are offering your short report.

At this stage, some of the leads may buy immediately but the
majority of them are not going to buy right away for different
reasons like:

– They may not trust you


– They may not have some money at the moment
– They may not be able to make payments at the moment
– etc

So, what you have to do is to ensure that you follow up with them
via email marketing and that brings us to the next element on our
sales funnel.

Email FollowUps
It has proven via several tests that a large percentage of the people
who land on your website will not buy the first time.

It has also been proven that most of them will not buy until after
you have followed up with them up to 7 times.

What does that tell you?

In this game, following up on your prospects is crucial...and the


most effective and cost friendly way to follow up is via email.

For instance, I know that a large percentage of people who bought

this course didn't buy it the first time they landed on the website
selling it.

Most people bought it after they received several follow-ups in


form of emails.

However, you simply do not use email to follow up, you also use it
to develop a relationship with your subscribers by sharing things
from your life with them and also sharing valuable things that can
improve their lives with them as well.

This is where the LARGE bulk of money you are going to make will
come in.

Let me explain better....

Your ability to build a large list of targeted leads and build a


relationship with them will result in them buying from you over and
over again as long as you continue to keep your integrity and as
long as you continue to provide REAL value.

Again...how do you communicate with your list of targeted leads?


You do so mainly via emails.

Another method is by using SMS but you and I know that text
messages can only contain a limited number of characters.

The tool that we will be using to make following up with email


simple is what is known as an autoresponder.

DEFINITION – An autoresponder is a software program that helps

you to collect and organize people's data when they sign up on


your squeeze page. You can also pre-program it to deliver certain
emails to your subscribers at specific periods.

For instance, you can program it to deliver follow-up emails in this


fashion:

Email 1 – To be sent immediately subscriber joins your list.

Email 2 – To be sent 2 days after subscriber joins your list

Email 3 – to be sent 4 days after subscriber joins your list

Email 4 – To be sent 7 days after subscriber joins your list.

The autoresponder does all these follow-ups for you automatically.

Another thing is that the autoresponder helps you to deliver


instant emails to your list of subscribers.

So, if you wake up today and you want to send out an email to your
list of 20,000 subscribers for instance, you will just login to your
autoresponder and send the mail to them and the autoresponder
will deliver the mail to the 20,000 subscribers.

This is a tool that you can not do without when you are selling
online.

So, how do you get an autoresponder to use?

Well, you have to pay one of the autoresponder companies to use

their system.

There are several autoresponder companies out there BUT I will


just give you a list below of the ones you can choose from. These
ones are the best.

1. Getresponse ( at www.getresponse.com )
2. Aweber.com (at www.aweber.com )
3. icontact.com (at www.icontact.com )
4. Trafficwave (at www.trafficwave.net )

Which of them do I recommend that you use the most?

I use 3 different autoresponders and out of the 3, the best one so


far is Getresponse. They even have a 30 days free trial offer during
which you can test drive their system.

money. Some people use free autoresponders or cheap ones to
avoid paying but that is the kiss of death for your business before
you even start.

That leads us to the last part of the sales funnel which is...

Once again...

Prospects are those who have never bought from you before.

Customers are those who have spent money with you at least
once.

Your main task is to keep creating several short reports that your
market wants and offer them to your prospects and subscribers.

For your customers – If the previous reports they bought from you
are good, they will have no problem with buying more reports from
you. This is why you must ensure that your products deliver on
their promises and the packaging is always of high quality.

For your prospects – If you keep communicating and building a


relationship with them, they will see why they should try out some
of your products someday.

Selling more short reports is where you make more money from
your subscribers.

If each of your reports sell for N2,000 for instance, you will make
more money if you have 10 reports than when you have 5 reports
because there are some of your customers who will buy
everything.

This is the last part of the sales funnel and it will only be a success if
the previous parts of the sales funnel is in place.

So, let me now go back and give you more explanation about

How to Create a Killer Short


Report Squeeze Page

There is a zip file attached to this module that contains several


layouts that you can use for your squeeze page. Make sure you
download it to your system.

All you have to do is pick the layout you want and design it or give it
to the person who will help you with your minisite creation.

So, what I will be explaining here is not about the technical part of
creating a squeeze page.

It is about the strategy involved.

When a visitor who does not know you from Adam lands on your
squeeze page, there is a way you want to use to present your lead
magnet in order to convert that visitor into a subscriber.

In order to do that, there are some questions you should ask


yourself:

1. What are you offering as a lead magnet on your squeeze

page?

2. What headline are you using?

3. How else can you explain the benefits of what the visitor is
going to get by opting in to your list.

4. How can you make your page look believable?

5. How can you clearly communicate the action you want the
visitor to take on the squeeze page?

Let's take a look at the squeeze page below:

Can you see how the following elements do their work in the
squeeze page I just showed you above?

LEAD MAGNET – This squeeze page is targeted to serious


upcoming entrepreneurs and a planner on how to be more
productive is a very good lead magnet even though it is one page
apart from the videos. Serious people who want to get the best
from their time will optin for this very fast.

HEADLINE – Can you see how the headline quickly tells the visitor
what he is going to get? It also specifies that there is a FREE
DOWNLOAD and TRAINING.

BENEFITS – The squeeze page gives you the instant impression of


the value of what you are getting when you sign up.

BELIEVABILITY of PAGE – The short video of Brendon Burchard on


this page gives him an instant credibility status up there.

CLEARLY COMMUNICATE THE ACTION YOU WANT THE VISITOR TO


TAKE - On the right hand side of the squeeze page, you will see
some text and a form below it.

The first sentence of the text part is in ALL CAPS and it says: GET
FREE DOWNLOAD NOW

The yellow button too at the end of the form on that page also says
“Get Instant Access” and it has a red circle around it to draw the
eye of the visitor towards it.

This particular squeeze page layout is one you can model.

Just in case you are thinking of where the form on the page comes
from, that is the Opt-In form and it is generated from the
autoresponder that you are using.

I explain how to do it inside the Getresponse tutorials that I


created.

Your website designer will be able to help you fix it into the
squeeze page.

Since the lead magnet plays a big role in how effective your
squeeze page is going to perform, you must make sure that you
should always use a STRONG lead magnet that is targeted to your
audience.

Always remember that.

On the next page is a squeeze page that I used in Nov 2013 to


generate some leads for a workshop I wanted to hold. Like I told
you before, you don't use this system to sell only short reports, you
can use it sell so many things like seats for a workshop in this case.

If you look at the headline on the squeeze page, you will see that it
is about a special report that I targeted towards people who are
already into an online business but who want to make more profits
from their business.

That is how your lead magnet should work. In case you are
wondering, the opt-in form for the page is after the ecovers.

Now, let's talk about how to use emails to sell your small reports
and follow up.

Email Marketing for Short Reporters


Truth be told here.

Email marketing is a full blown course on its own. I can even show
you one or two places where you can buy email marketing courses
for as high as $3,000.

But that is no biggie.

What I want to quickly show you here is how you can sell massively
using emails and how you can keep getting better at it.

If done well, email marketing alone will make you a lot of money
because it is a good way to sell any products online.

But remember: Your email marketing will only be effective if you


have a list of email subscribers that are interested in what you are
promoting.

So, if you have an email list of 20,000 subscribers who are


interested in products about having a good marriage and one day,
you decide to promote a product to them on how to do business
online, don't be surprised if they do not respond or if they get
annoyed.

You also need to know that selling with email is a skill. Since it is a
skill, that means anyone can learn it. I learnt it and the people I
learnt it from also learnt it...and even I am still learning more about
it.

I said that because I don't want to hear complaints like: “I don't


know how to write or send emails”

With that said, let me now move further.

Whenever a subscriber signs up to join your list via the form on


your squeeze page, your autoresponder automatically adds them
to a campaign that you created for that purpose.

I said campaign because you can use your autoresponder for

account is how you are able to segment your list of subscribers so
that you can know who is who.

So, if you have a website now for instance at


www.bakedeliciouscakes.com and you send people to the squeeze
page on that site. When interested people add themselves to the
form on the squeeze page, their details should be automatically
submitted to the specific campaign you created in your
autoresponder for that purpose.

If you have another website with a squeeze page at


www.howtoblowupababy.com, people who add themselves via
the optinform on this page will not mix up with people who add
themselves on www.bakedeliciouscakes.com because you will have
separate campaigns for both.

So when people have added themselves to one of your campaigns,


you can now create follow up or instant email messages for them.

There are 2 main types of email messages you will be sending to


your subscribers in order to make your business long term and
profitable.

Email Type 1 – Low - Selling Email messages - These emails are used
mainly to provide information and entertainment for your
subscribers and you now link it to an offer. So, it is like 80% content
and 20% promotion. See sample below.

Email Type 2 – Promotional Emails – These are emails you send out
that are mainly created to sell. They are like 90% promotion. See
sample below.

You want to mix these type of emails (1 and 2) into your


promotions this way:

Why these 2 emails?

It is simple.

If you send only Low selling email messages all the time, the
number of sales you make will be limited.

And if you send only promotional emails, very soon your


subscribers may not respond very well to reading your emails
because it will look as if you are just trying to sell to them all the

Let me now show you examples of these 2 types of emails from my

You can see that the second email is mainly to sell an offer without
any piece of content or entertainment.

The second sample email above was actually promoting a Discount


offer which is another way to quickly inject some cashflow and
make some sales.

For instance, if you have 5 reports that sell for N2000 per one, you
may give your subscribers the chance to get the 5 reports for
N7,500 instead of paying N10,000 for the 5.

Now, let me break down the different parts of an email for you:

In every email you send, there are usually 2 main parts – The subject
of the email and the body part of the email.

SUBJECT LINE – The subject part of the email is the most crucial
because this is the first thing that your subscriber will read before
he decides to open the email and read the rest.

To get best results from your subject lines, they have to be of


interest to the reader or they should arouse curiosity.

Here are some email subject lines that I have used in the past with

To get a great list of ideas that you can always make use of when
you want to create your emails, you can do the following:

1. Subscribe to the email lists of other websites that are similar


to the market you are targeting. You can find a bunch of them
via Google.com and when they send you emails, go through
their subject lines and pick the great ones. Delete the rest.

2. Find magazines that are related to your market and borrow


ideas from there that you can use

Let's talk about the body copy of the email.

I have already told you about the 2 major types of emails you will
be using to sell.

I have also told you about the subject line and the part it plays in
the success of your marketing campaigns.

The body copy of the email is where you deliver your message to

your subscriber.

Your emails should NEVER be boring.

You should use the body of your emails to:

– Share interesting stories (about yourself or others)


– Talk about related celebrities
– Share useful information that your subscribers are interested
in.
– Promote your products.

I wish I could give you a lesson right now on how to write emails
but a faster and effective way to turn yourself into an email
creation expert is to start writing emails.

Sure. Your first 10 emails may be poor but the more emails you
write, the better you will get at it.

Another thing you can do is to copy out any interesting piece of


email that you come across by hand.

In fact, if you make a decision today to write out 3 emails by hand


everyday and you do this for the next 30 days, you are likely to
create emails better than mine.

Let me now round off this module. This is getting too long.

The main purpose of this module is for you to learn how to setup
your sales funnel to sell your products.

again because it is not something you can just rush through at once
and forget about it.

them and they will keep buying from you.
