Apparatus: two quantum dot solar cells (5 cm X 5 cm)- third generation, two Multimeter to
measure volts (1-10 volts) and amps (0.01-10 amps), 10 alligator clip leads, Gooseneck lamp
with 100-watt incandescent bulb, metric ruler or meter stick.
Description:
Series: Solar cells (modules) can be connected in series to increase the output voltage, shown
in Figure 1. Total voltage is equal to the sum of individual voltages. Solar cells in series are
termed string. The power output can be calculated for individual solar modules and
combinations of the several modules to find the rationale to a potential combination of modules.
Parallel: Connecting cells in parallel increases the total current, shown in Figure 2. Total current is
equal to the sum of individual currents.
