“Kapalit ng Katahimikan “by Kara David

The documentary Kapalit ng Katahimikan by Kara David explores the serious issue about of
sexual abuse in the Philippines. It provides a real struggles into the lives of victims, many of people
suffer in silence due to societal stigma and fear of revenge. The title tells the heavy cost of the victims
to pay and for hide their experiences in the harsh people. I believe the documentary is important for
raising awareness for all teenage girl and also in public awareness about this serious issue. It
encourages society to face the harsh realities of sexual abuse,We need to Understand these societal
issues because its hard or it’s crucial for creating safer environments and preventing further harm.

While Watching Kapalit ng Katahimikan was a shocking and emotional experience for me.
From the beginning of the story or the documentary, I felt a mix emotions or feelings,I felt sadness
and anger at the stories that being shared. It was heartbreaking to see how many victims or how many
girl in the world specially in this country the Philippines the victims lived in fear and could not even
seek justice because of threats or societal pressure that coming from harsh Filipinos. One moment that
really hit me was when a young woman have a confident to shared the story of his daughter, despite
the risk of being judged for many people. She incourage the people that we need to stand up for our
rights and seek for justice. It made me realize how hard it must be for the victims to speak out and to
share their trauma experience, especially in a culture that where Suspect uses money to clean their
name and to clean the tribes. As a viewer, I felt a strong sense of empathy for these individuals who
carry the burden of their trauma alone.Beyond individual stories, the documentary as a whole give an
emotional impact. It made me think about how silence helps keep violence going. I started to consider
how many cases of abuse go unnoticed of the many people in whole world specially in the Philippines
because victims are too scared to speak up their emotions or feelings and the trauma. This
documentary of Kara David helped me to understand the importance of emotional of hiding these
experiences and how it affects victims’ lives for a long time and the emotional of their family. It left
me with a sense of importance to address these important issues in our country, that no matter how
small my efforts might be.

The documentary is not all about or it’s not focus on personal stories of abuse people . it also
highlights larger social and political issues and also the tribes group that contribute to the problem of
this country. It made me realize how deeply take these issues are in our society.Another important
aspect of the documentary is the lack of legal protection for the victims. The film shows how the
justice system often fails to support victims of sexual violence. In many cases, victims are left to hold
with their trauma alone.

One major takeaway from the documentary is the need for more awareness and promote
awareness in school about sexual violence. The film made me realize that this important issue is not
discussed enough in schools, communities, or even in families.I believe education is key to addressing
sexual violence to all people. Schools should play a more active in teaching students about consent,
respect, and healthy relationships for everyone. The documentary made me think and realize about
how little we learn to these kind of issues and about these topics in school and how essential it is to
have open conversations for everyone about them. The documentary has inspired me to get more
involved or to aware and raising awareness and advocating for policies that protect victims and
promote justice for everyone.

Kapalit ng Katahimikan serves and gives as a powerful reminder of every Filipinos of the
importance of speaking out against sexual violence and supporting those who have experienced it and
those victims. While I’m Watching it made me realize the importance of creating safe spaces where
victims can express their feeling and share their stories without fear of judgment. My key takeaway is
that silence allows violence to thrive, and breaking that silence is the first step toward healing and
justice. As a society and as a Filipino citizen, we must continue to raise awareness about these kind of
issues to our country and society and work towards creating a culture of respect, and support for
victims and survivors.
