Appendix A3 Student Teaching Internship Agreement 2
As a student teacher intern enrolled in the ELT Program at Lusail University, I understand that I must adhere to all
program requirements as stated in the Handbook and as outlined below.
• Complete and submit a practicum application form to the Dean/Practicum Office See Appendix A, 1).
• Read and sign an Internship Agreement.
• Be in the classroom where assigned.
• Be punctual.
• Report to school on time and remain until the designated time.
• Adhere to the policies and procedures of the hosting school/institution.
• Be professional in appearance, dress, demeanor, and disposition.
• Prepare related tasks, including observing, assisting, shadowing the mentor teacher, and teaching the required
number of lessons.
• Always remember that you represent Lusail University when you enter your practicum classroom, and to the
students, you also represent the school or institution where you teach. You must uphold the standards of both
institutes.
• Respect your mentor teacher's time and understand that s/he has many other obligations. Be mindful of not taking
up too much of their time. If a mentor teacher reports that a student teacher is taking up too much of their time,
the university supervisor will address this issue.
• Maintain data confidentiality of all personal/academic information and data relevant to LU and the hosting
school/institution.
• Release of any sort of data whether electronic or hard copy must be formally approved by the hosting
school/institution and LU.
• Notify the school, the mentor teacher, and the university supervisor as soon as possible if absence due to illness
is necessary.
• Keep the university supervisor updated. Notify him/her if changes occur in your school visit schedule.
• Provide the mentor teacher with copies of your written lesson plans in advance of your planned time to teach the
lesson(s).
• Observe the behaviour and learning styles of students from diverse cultures to develop skills for creating a
classroom environment that enhances multicultural understanding.
• Create and maintain a positive learning environment by demonstrating respect for every student.
• Maintain a firm but friendly relationship with each student.
• Be a respectful listener.
• Complete all work assigned by the university supervisor and mentor teacher.
My failure to fulfil the stated criteria might result in dismissal from the internship placement and removal from the
practicum students list.
I have read the Student Teaching Internship Contract and understand that I am responsible for meeting these
requirements at the highest level of proficiency.
