Valuing:
Adolescents need nutritional counseling to support
the development of healthy lifestyles, avoid weight-
related issues, lower their risk of disease, and make
sure all of their needs are satisfied for growth and
development. Adolescents must eat healthily because
their bodies are undergoing physical changes that
influence their nutritional and dietary requirements.
Teenagers are growing increasingly self-reliant and
making a lot of their own eating decisions.

III. PROCEDURES

B. Developmental
Activities
Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activities
1. Presentation Teacher: Today we will be talking about the
problems in nutrition among adolescent. In these
picture can you describe it in one word?
Students: Unhealthy Eating!

Teacher: Very Good!

2. Discussion

Teacher: Growth failure and micro nutrient

inadequacy during childhood and adolescence can
delay growth and create high risk of chronic diseases
in adulthood. Puberty is accompanied by a growth
spurt that increases the requirements for both macro
nutrients and micro-nutrients. These higher
requirements are balanced by a more efficient use of
protein for development rather than energy. For
females, pubertal timing is affected by childhood
body mass index (BMI) and percentage of body fat;
data for males are inconclusive. In childhood,
stunting (low height for age) and wasting (low weight
for height) delay both overall growth and the onset of
puberty. In addition, girls born small for gestational
age are at risk for insulin resistance, premature
pubarche, early menarche, and an attenuated growth
spurt.
Teacher: If you eat junk food daily, you’re likely to
be obese and more vulnerable to chronic diseases
such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, fatty
liver disease, and certain types of cancers. Some
major harmful effects of eating unhealthy food are
that it causes learning or memory issues, increases
vulnerability to dementia, reduces control on
appetite, and makes you impatient due to
uncontrollable cravings. Having a healthy diet high in
vegetables, fruits, low-fat dairy products, and whole
grains can reduce the risk of heart diseases and other
health issues by maintaining your normal cholesterol
levels and blood pressure. Healthy eating includes the
consumption of food that is high in nutrients and
helps you maintain your overall health while keeping
your body high in energy. Some essential nutrients in
a healthy diet are carbohydrates, proteins, good fat,
vitamins, minerals, etc.

3. Application
Creat a video demonstrating a good eating habits as
a adolescence. Explain how important your Diet
planning. In not less than 3 minutes.

4. Generalization Teacher: Can you tell me what have you learned

today?

Students: We learned about how a adolescent

should take in a healthy and unhealthy diet that
knows the nutritional problems and what effect we
can get we we don’t take it seriously. Healthy diets
are made up mainly of nutrient-rich foods, such as
fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy
products, lean protein and nuts and seeds. Unhealthy
diets are high in fat, saturated fat, trans fat, sodium
and added sugars. These diets often contain a lot of
processed or fast foods that are high in calories but
don't contain many nutrients. People following a
healthy diet watch their portion sizes so they
maintain a healthy weight, since both the quantity
and the quality of the food you eat is important for a
healthy diet.

IV. EVALUATION Instruction: Read the statements carefully then write

TRUE if the statement is correct and write FALSE if it
is wrong . Write your answer in the blank space.
