SATIMO and ORBIT/FR’s
excellence in antenna design
The Antenna Design and Test Center (ADTC) is a dedicated,
integrated team within SATIMO and ORBIT/FR that focuses
on the design, measurement and production of antennas.
It has developed a wide range of high performance antennas
based on its expertise in antenna design and measurement.
This expertise is consolidated by years of experience
developing very different kinds of antennas for a broad variety

shorter focal lengths, which require an illumination
cone angle of ± 16 deg. Other advantages of the low
gain feeds are lower weight and the availability of a full
octave frequency bandwidth up to 8 GHz.

Half octave dual linear feed horns

ORBIT/FR offers a full line of dual linear polarized feeds to enable convenient and more efficient range utilization.
An automatic high speed (PIN diode) or pre-test (electromechanical) switching between two ports is also
available (as an option). Theses feeds incorporate the corrugated aperture design needed to produce the
rotationally symmetric patterns optimized for reflector illumination. High levels of polarization isolation are
achieved due to specific orthomode design.

The low sidelobe level of the diagonal horn results in extremely low specular reflections
from chamber walls, thus providing substantially improved quiet zone performance and
greater measurement accuracy.

> Additional SATIMO - ORBIT/FR
Interface
The standard SOI interface allows for precise and easy positioning of any SATIMO standard antenna
with a 60 mm or 110 mm flange onto an ORBIT/FR measurement system. The interface consists of two
parallel flanges (SATIMO flange and ORBIT/FR flange) aligned by three precision rods. The assembly
is also equipped with a bubble level. The SATIMO circular interface allows the user to center the an-
tenna with very high accuracy. Antennas with the 60 mm flange are fastened by four M4 screws while
antennas with the 110 mm flange are fastened by four M5 screws. The alignment is determined by a
precision pin.
