DISTRICT MEET KICKOFF

Another year of Ball Game has begun, athletes from different schools in Tacloban City
prepare for this upcoming big event. Athletes, coaches, and families gather for the yearly
District Meet Kick-off, a celebration that sets the stage for an exciting season of
competition. This event marks the beginning of the district’s athletics calendar and serves as
a rallying point for teamwork, dedication, and school spirit. Participants from various
schools will come together to showcase their skills, foster camaraderie and athleticism.
Athletes from JEMCC prepare form this big event, during the month of September each
athletes have gone through training to show that they are eager to be victorious and to
prepare to participate in this year of district meet.

October 11th – 12th, 2024 the opening for the District Meet was held on Leyte Progressive
High school Inc. (LPHSI) private and public schools from DLC VI gathered in Leyte
Progressive. Before the opening program athletes from different schools have gathered
outside the gymnasium in order for the MC to call each school one by one to proceed in the
gymnasium, once every school was called everyone sing the Philippines national anthem,
after the anthem an opening speech was held by the sports coordinator of the DLC VI
teaching athletes to have a good sports man ship, schedules, and the venue of each sports,
once the speech has ended an Intermission was presented by the marching band of Leyte
Progressive, after the intermission an oath taking from the gold medallist of palarong
pambansa from the sports coordinator was held, the gold medallist requested all athletes to
repeat his oath taking as for the sports coordinator they oath that they would . Once the
oath taking has ended a flag raising of each school banner was done outside the gymnasium,
the school principal and a teacher from JEMCC were the ones who raise the banner during
the flag raising, it’s a sign that the JEMCC is ready to take in in this big event. Before the ball
game begin another intermission was held by the Leyte progressive faculty along with the
sports coordinator, they requested that all athletes should follow their dance, the dance of
galaw pilipinas, it’s a warm up so athletes can have a better and focus mind before playing.
After the intermission the sports coordinator from DLC VI announced the venue of each
sports and wishing each athletes good luck as he ended his speech he said one last thing
“LET THE BALL GAME BEGIN!” as a sign from the district meet to begin, a cheerful yell and
applause can be hear coming from each school athletes. As the District Meet begins athletes
has come together for an unforgettable experience.
