Q1:

After completing my degree from Uk I plan to return to Pakistan. I belong to a

small village in Burewala, Punjab. Cousin marriages are prevalent in Pakistan,
especially in villages which results in higher chances of genetic disorders.
Unfortunately, there is no concept of genetic counselling in Pakistan. As an
expert in human genetics and after polishing my skills in this field I will try
my best to coordinate with the expert doctors to set up a team that will
provide genetic counselling to the conservative areas of Pakistan. I want to
provide this counselling to the illiterate people of my country who have no
concept of genetics or genetic disorders. This approach will help to reduce
the number of serious genetic disorders i.e., blindness, neurological and
neurodegenerative disorders.

Q2:

During my MPhil molecular biology studies at Quaid I Azam University, I

developed a genetic assay for the screening of Huntington’s Disease for the
first time in Pakistan. I have the lead role during this protocol. I have four
undergraduate students under my supervision. We collaborated and sampled
families from the hospitals. After developing the assay, we provided free
genetic testing for Huntington's disease in Pakistan. I want to employ these
relationship-building skills in future for the betterment of the society. My
team work skills will help to work with multidisciplinary people. I will engage
with healthcare professionals and researchers to solve the pressing health
issues of the world.

Q3:

As a graduate with a Master's in Biochemistry, my research has largely

focused on human genetics. However, I am eager to broaden my expertise
and explore interdisciplinary applications of biochemistry, particularly in
protein chemistry. The selected universities offer an exceptional opportunity
to work under the guidance of supervisors who are leaders in their fields. I
am particularly drawn to the prospect of engaging with experts in protein
chemistry, where I can delve into the modulation of proteins for industrial
applications. This course will allow me to apply my background in
biochemistry while expanding my knowledge into cutting-edge areas of
research with real-world impact. I am genuinely excited to contribute to and
learn from this field, enhancing both my theoretical understanding and
practical skillset. These programs emphasize cutting-edge research and
practical applications in areas such as protein modulation and industrial
biotechnology will not only broaden my expertise but also make me more
versatile and competitive in the global job market.

By working closely with an expert supervisor, I will gain hands-on experience

in designing and executing complex research projects, developing critical
thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, which are essential for
success in both academic and industrial research environments. This
experience will also prepare me for potential PhD studies, should I choose to
pursue them, or for leadership roles in research and development within the
pharmaceutical, healthcare, or biotechnology sectors.

Q4:

Upon returning to Pakistan, my goal is to leverage the advanced knowledge

and skills gained from my MRes courses to contribute meaningfully to the
country's biotechnology and healthcare sectors. Specifically, I aim to work
with reputable biotechnological firms such as AGCT Genomics, Allahdin
Group of Companies, or Ferozsons Laboratories Limited, where I can apply
my expertise in protein chemistry and genetic research to support innovation
in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and therapeutic solutions. Additionally, I am
keen on collaborating with hospitals to establish genetic counselling services
in partnership with medical professionals. This will enable me to assist in
early diagnosis, personalized treatment, and risk assessment for hereditary
diseases, areas that are still developing in Pakistan. By helping to bridge the
gap between cutting-edge research and clinical practice, I hope to contribute
to enhancing healthcare accessibility and outcomes in my home country.
