Re: Warning! EXC board switch setting
Wrong switch setting of SW2 on EXC board will cause PIN diodes in REAR RF unit on rear of the magnet
gantry broken. When PIN diodes are broken, TX gain raises up 4~5dB or more when using all coil except
WB coil. Sometimes the system cannot find TX gain and stop pre-scanning although DQA (SNR, TX gain)
is normal.
For example, when bit 7 of SW2 is OFF and FLOW ERROR LED on EXC lights during scanning, EXC
does not supply “RFON” signal, which is used for PIN diode drive, to S-IF board in wall cabinet. But RFC
supplies BLANK signal to RF amplifier through RFU-IF board. And, RF amp supplies RF pulses to WB coil
without proper PIN bias voltage. So, PIN diodes and 50-ohm resister are damaged
Do not change and touch SW2 on EXC board for EXCELART system
Wrong switch setting of EXC board is written in the old service manual 2D900-022E*I or older revision.
It is corrected in newer service manual 2D900-022E*J, issued in Nov.2001.
<SW2>
1. Set to ON to set the ADM board to V1 mode.
2. Not use
3. Not use
4. G-amp error is ignored.
5. Shim error is ignored.
6. For TCM error
7. Flow switch error is ignored.
8. For Door switch

Correct SW2 settings
For the MRT-1501 series (MRT-1501/P2A, P2B, P2C, P3A and P3B), 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8 are set to ON and 2, 3, and 6 are set to
OFF.
For the MRT-1500 series (MRT-1500/P2A), 1, 7, and 8 are set to ON and 2 to 6 are set to OFF.
For the MRT-150 series (MRT-150/V1), only 1 is set to ON and all others are set to OFF.
