    WORK METHOD STATEMENT

    Tittle : Pile Cutting


    Project : Pembinaan Sekolah Baharu 30 Bilik Darjah Dan Lain-lai Kemudahan Di
    Sekolah Kebangsaan Permai, Kemaman, Terengganu

    1. OBJECTIVE
    The objective of this method statement is to apply a pile cutting work on building
    construction (Pembinaan Sekolah Baharu 30 Bilik Darjah dan Lain-lain Kemudahan Di
    Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Permai, Kemaman, Terengganu)

    2. SCOPE
    The scope of work mentioned shall be applied to cut off pile activities (Spun Pile and R.C
    Square pile) as per project specification and drawings.

    3. RESOURCE PLANNING

    4. PREPARATORY WORKS
    4.1 Setting out must be done to ensure the boundary of the working area.
    4.2 Provide a safe access to the all workers, plant, and machineries in order to

    license surveyor that award by the contractor.

    5. WORK METHODOLOGY
    5.1 Excavate the work area based on the drawing
    5.2 A layer of lean concrete approximately 50mm is poured to get a surface level
    5.3 Two level of marking is done, first marking will show the required cut-off level
    and the second marking will have an offset about 100mm – 150mm from the pile
    cut-off level.
    5.4 Initial cut to the offset marking level is done to a maximum of 50% from the pile
    wall thickness using a diamond cutter.
    5.5 Top part of pile is properly tied with lifting belt held by 25 tonne crane to prevent
    pile from falling.
    5.6 Final cut is then carried out.
    5.7 Slightly applied lifting force to the pile to prevent pile slipping during cutting by
    using a crane.
    5.8 For high pile cutting, scaffold / aluminium ladder will be used for workers to
    tighten the lifting belt to the pile. Another worker will hold the ladder to ensure the
    stability when tightening.
    5.9 Cut piles shall be stored at an agreed temporary location and then disposed from
    site.
    5.10 The portion between cut-off and offset marking will then be hacked carefully
    without damaging the rebar inside the pile. Rebar sharp edge should be protected.
    5.11 Min two nos. of pile rebar is left for the connection of electrical earthing.
    5.12 Rebar edge must be protected.
    7. SAFETY PRECAUTION

    7.1 The working area will be demarcated using barricade tape and signage.
    7.2 The following personal protection equipment (PPE) and / or safety & health
    related equipment are deemed the minimum protection gear required for the
    carrying out the work:-
    i. Safety Helmet
    ii. Face Shield High Impact.
    iii. Respirator (dust protector)
    iv. Safety Boots / Appropriate Shoes
    v. Glove
    vi. Ear Muffs
    vii. Safety Google
    7.3 Task Supervisor to ensure safety requirement are complied.
    7.4 Standby man will be providing all the time during pile cutting activity.
    7.5 During cutting activity, spraying of water will be applied to prevent a dust.
    7.6 Cutting operation must be done by competent pile cutter to avoid any injury.
