9/29/24, 3:09 PM Flexi Baseband Extension Module (FBBC) operation
Flexi Baseband Extension Module (FBBC) provides additional capacity to the BTS, increasing both baseband capacity
and RF connectivity of Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS System Module. Compared to Flexi Capacity Extension Sub-Module
(FBBA), FBBC provides the same capacity as FBBA (for LTE, 3x20 MHz or 6x10 MHz with 2x2 MIMO, enabling 450
Mbps downlink and 150 Mbps uplink data speeds), however, the FBBC has four optical OBSAI RP3-01 6 Gbps ports.
Up to two FBBCs are supported per one Flexi Multiradio System Module, and, 1U high, they are installed side by side
in the bottom slots of the System Module. Adding capacity submodules in the field does not affect the ongoing traffic.
FBBC is powered by the System Module core module, and the second sub-module is powered by the first one. Every
extension sub-module is connected to the core module through a QSFP connector. A BTS equipped with two FBBC
sub-modules provides up to twelve optical RP3-01 6 Gbit/s connections towards RF units. Mixed configurations with
FBBA are possible.
