A. Content Standards The learners will demonstrates understanding of key
concepts of measures of position.

B. Performance The learner is able to conduct systematically a mini-research


Standards applying the different statistical methods.

C. MELCs with Code calculates a specified measure of position (e.g. 90th


percentile) of a set of data. (M10SP-IVb-1)

Curriculum As to mention one of the core values of the Department of
Education is “Makatao”, and that is to specifically cite
learning continuity of our learners in these trying times with
COVID19 - - truly amazes how we value each other, and it can
also be seen in every devastating calamity our nation
experienced. Most significantly highlighted the mentioned
learning areas because it greatly affects not just the
worldwide economy and the health of the greatest creation of
our Almighty God which is the human being and more
importantly their faith.

IV. Learning Tasks Teacher’s Activity

A. Pre-Activity Good day, everyone!Our objective for today’s lesson is


that you will calculate a specified measure of position of
grouped data. But before that let me remind you of the
safety protocol.
1. Wearing of facemasks will be strictly observed.
2. Wash your hands properly before entering the classroom.
3. Observe social distancing.
4. Get Covid-19 vaccination for health and safety reasons.

1. Review Let us begin this lesson by letting you assess your learnings
about the previous topic on measure of position of
ungrouped data.

Directions: Solve the following

It’s Vaccine Time! A total of 8000 people were vaccinated


over 12 hours.
Estimate the third quartile (when 75% of the people had
arrived)
Estimate the 40th percentile (when 40% of the people had
arrived)

2. Motivation What’s New


Before we proceed to our proper discussion, let’s have first
an activity. Do you have a sharp memory?

A TLE teacher requested her 10 4Ps students to bring


seedlings for the schools’ Gulayan sa Paaralan.The following
are the number of seedlings the ten students brought.

brought which are less than or equal to 25% of the data?
2. What are the number of seedlings the students
brought which are less than or equal to 65% of the data?
3. What are the number of seedlings the students
brought which are less than or equal to 8% of the data?

In computing the measures of position of grouped data, the
following formula is used:

LB = lower boundary of the Qkclass
N = total frequency
cfb = cumulative frequency of the class before the Qk class
f Qk= frequency of the Qkclass
i = size of class interval
k = nth quartile, where n = 1,2, and 3

The Decile of Grouped Data


Formula:

LB = lower boundary of the Dkclass
N = total frequency
cfb = cumulative frequency of the class before the Dk class
f Dk= frequency of the Dkclass
i = size of class interval
k = nth decile, where n = 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9

The Percentile of Grouped Data

cfb = cumulative frequency of the class before the Pk class
f pk= frequency of the Pkclass
i = size of class interval
k = nth percentile, where n = 1,2,3 …,97,98 and 99
B. Activity Proper The class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be
assigned a different task to present in the class. You will be
given 10 minutes to do the activity. Allotted time for each
group presentation 5 minutes only.

The frequency distribution below shows the scores of 30


Grade 10 learners in their first Performance Tasks for
Quarter 4.

C. Post Activity After the presentation of every group, let us try to answer

Analysis/Discussion The quartiles divide the distribution into four equal parts.
The deciles are those values that divide the total frequency
into 10 equal parts.
And the percentile is a measure of position that divides a
distribution into 100 equal parts.

school year. The adviser has to conduct home visitation for
each learners every Friday. This report includes the number
of WWs and PTs gathered from each student visited during
the previous week. Listed below, ordered from smallest to
largest, are the number of WWs and PTs collected last week.
