The following text is for questions 40 to 42.

Flies are one of the biggest groups of insects, common nearly everywhere. There are over
90,000 species. Flies include bluebottles, black flies, gnats, horseflies, midges, mosquitoes, and
tsetse flies.
Unlike other insects, flies have only one pair of real wings. The hind wings are small
stumps called halteres which help a fly balance in flight. Flies suck up their food, typically sap
from rotting plants and fruit. Houseflies often suck liquids from manure. Blowflies drink from
rotting meat. The larva or young of flies are called maggots, and they are tiny, white, wriggling
tube shapes.
A housefly flies at over 7 km/h, equal to flying 350,000 times its own length in an hour. If
a jumbo jet flew at the same speed relative to its length for an hour, it would get almost right
around the world. Alaska flies can stand being frozen at temperatures of -60°C and still survive.
Many species of flies are carries of dangerous disease. When a fly bites or makes contact,
it can infect people with some of the germs it carries, especially the flies that suck blood.

in 1992, where a social support program helped the family to get a small two- bedroom

in Ukraine. At first Koum’s mother worked as a babysitter, while he himself worked as a cleaner

worked at Yahoo. In September 2007 Koum and Acton left Yahoo and took a year off, traveling
around South America and playing ultimate frisbee. Both applied and failed to work at
Facebook. In January 2009, he bought an iPhone and realized that the then-seven-month-old
App Store was about to spawn a whole new industry of apps. He visited his friend Alex Fishman
and the two talked for hours about Koum’s idea for an app over tea at Fishman’s kitchen counter.
Koum almost immediately chose the name WhatsApp because it sounded like “ what’s up “, and
a week later on his birthday, Feb 24, 2009, he incorporated WhatsApp Inc. in California.
