Term I English worksheet 2024-2025

I. Read the passage carefully:

Deep beneath the waves, off the coast of a remote tropical island, lies the remains of an old
wooden ship. The ship, which sank over 200 years ago, is now a popular destination for
scuba divers and underwater archaeologists.
When the ship first went down, it was carrying a valuable cargo of spices, gold, and precious
gems. Over the centuries, much of this treasure has been lost or scattered by the ocean
currents. However, divers have still managed to recover many fascinating artefacts from the
wreck site.
Some of the most interesting finds include old cannons, anchors, and navigational
instruments. Archaeologists have also discovered chests full of silver coins, ceramic plates,
and glass bottles. These items provide clues about the ship's origins and the lives of the crew.
Exploring the wreck is not without its dangers. The site lies at a depth of over 100 feet, which
means divers must be highly skilled and properly equipped. The wreck itself is also in a
fragile state, with many of the wooden beams and planks rotting away. Divers must be very
careful not to disturb or damage the delicate remains.
Despite the risks, the shipwreck continues to fascinate people from all over the world. For
archaeologists, it is a treasure trove of information about the past. For divers, it is an exciting

Forever flowing, wild and free.

Through valleys wide and forests deep,

The river never stops to sleep.
