Before the Lesson
A. Preliminary Activities Let’s all stand and pray.

Good afternoon children!

What an energy! Before taking your sit, kindly pick up the pieces of papers
and plastics under your chair. You may now take your sit.

Now, may I call on the secretary to report who among your classmates not
attended our class.

It’s good to hear that you are all present this afternoon. Can you give yourself
a VERY GOOD CLAP.

Bring out your assignment, pass it sideward and forward it.

After this lesson, the students will able to:


a. Identify past, present and future progressive tenses of the verb in a
sentence;
b. Express how progressive tense can be used to complete a task
c. Compose clear and coherent sentences using appropriate grammatical
structures: past, present and future progressive tenses of the verb.

During the Lesson


D. Presenting examples/ Just like simple tenses and perfect tenses, verbs in Progressive form also
instances of the new have three tenses. They are Past Progressive Tense, Present Progressive
lesson tense and Future Progressive Tense.

Past Progressive Tense

The past progressive tense shows:


1. An action was occurring in the past when another past action
happened.
It uses the time expressions while, when, as and before.

Examples:
a. I was writing on the board when our teacher came.
b. While our teacher was preparing the board, we entered the room.

2. Actions happening at the same time in the past


Examples:
a. As our teacher was explaining , we were taking notes.
b. While we were taking notes, our teacher was encouraging us to ask a
questions.

The past Progressive tense can be formed this way:


For singular subject Subject+was+verb-ing(was studying)
For plural subject Subject+were+verb-ing( were
studying)

“NOW, THEN, LATER, FRECH FRIES BAG”

Procedure:
a. The teacher will provide a three french fries bag labeled as New, Then
and Later.
b. Also the teacher will provide an example of three progressive tense in a
fries strips
c. In the first part of the discussion the teacher is providing a past
progressive tense example and the student will analyze why it is past
progressive tense and they will put it to the “Then (Past) Fries bag”
d. The now stands for present progressive tense, then stands for past
progressive tense and later stands for future progressive tense.
E. Discussing new Present Progressive Tense
concepts and
practicing new skills #1 The present progressive tense shows an action which is happening at the
moment of speaking and writing.
 It uses time expressions such as at this time, presently, now, right now, at
this moment, and currently.
 Sentences with verbs in the present progressive tense can be formed in
these ways:
For first person singular subject I + am+ verb-ing (studying)
For third person singular subject He/She/It+is+ verb-ing(walking)
For plural subject including second We/You/They+are+verb-
person singular subject ing( dancing)

Examples:
a. I am writing on the board right now.
b. Maria Fe is writing on the board now.
c. Maria Fe and Imee are writing on the board now.

Future Progressive Tense

The future progressive tense shows an action that will continue to


happen in the future.

 It uses the time expression as later, when, this afternoon, this time
tomorrow, soon, in, on, at, next week, etc.
 It is formed using this format:
For singular and plural subject Subject+will/shall+be+verb-ing
( will be presenting)

Examples:
1. I will be writing on the board later.
This time tomorrow, Maria Fe and Imee will be presenting their reasearch to
the teachers.

Procedure:

1. The class will be group by 3 groups

2. Inside the classroom, the students will go around to find an picture


with an action after that they will create a sentences using a present,
past, and future progressive tense.
3. In finding a picture with an action each group has a minimum of 3
and maximum of 5 picture each group.
4. The first group who finish the activity will get 20 points. The second
group who finish will get 15 points and last will get 10 points
5. After that they will present in on the class
6. The activities will end after 5 minutes.

G. Developing Mastery Directions: Complete each sentences with the correct verb form being
suggested by the tense-aspect in the parenthesis. Write your answer on your
answer sheet.

before they begin with their recycling activity.

H. Finding practical
applications of Studying progressive tenses can hel us completed a task
concepts and skills in 1. Think about a fun moment you’re having right now. Can you describe what
daily living you are doing and how you feel using the present progressive tense?
2. Reflect on a time when you were helping someone last week. What were
you doing? Use the past progressive tense to share your experience.
3. Imagine a plan you have for this weekend. What will you be doing. Use the
future progressive tense to describe it.
I. Making generalizations We learned the three types of progressive tense such as past progressive,
and abstractions about the present progressive and future progressive tenses. It help us tell stories about
lesson what’s happening right now, what was happening in the past, or what will be
happening in the future. They show the action in motion, making our
conversations and writing feel more alive and connected toreal-life
experiences.

J. Evaluating learning A. Directions: Give the correct progressive verb inside the parentheses to
compose clear and coherent sentences. Write your answers on your answer
sheet.

maintain the cleanliness of our surroundings.
