1. Take a mirror, fix it with clay on a table. Keep a long tube (T1) preferably made out of black chart paper at an angle
to the mirror (M1) as shown in the figure. Now shine a torch light at the open end of the tube. Make sure that the
diameter of the torch just fits the face of the tube. Arrange and adjust the other tube (T2) in such a way that it gets
the reflected light from the first tube. Keep the second mirror (M2) at the open end of the second tube, such that the
third tube (T3) can be fixed on to it to get the reflected light. In the same way, fix the third mirror (M3) and the next
tube can be arranged to get the reflected light at the end of the fourth tube (T4). So, the light ray form point A
comes to point B.
Note: You can even do the activity with just one or two mirrors.
(a) Find the volume of the tube you made. (𝑉 = 𝜋𝑟 2 ℎ)
(b) Find the angle of incidence and angle of reflection.
(c) Report your observation based on laws of reflection.
2. Write the numbers 1 to 10 and place them in front of a mirror. You can see the lateral inversions of the numbers in
the mirror. Now write the numbers in such a way that you can read the letters correctly, when you place them in
front of the mirror.
3. Study the table given below on absorption and reflection of light and fill in the blanks:
4. Reflecting on a recent challenging situation you faced, how did self-reflection help you to understand your reactions
and actions better, and how could this guide you in future decision making?
