LESSON

Creating a Logo Design Using Digital Art Technology

The Philippines is a country with many beautiful places filled with rich
flora and fauna. Found in its 7,107 islands are provinces inhabited by
friendly citizens. The country is also blessed with fine beaches, and lush
mountains, and long winding rivers. It has traditional villages that celebrate
colorful festivities throughout the year. Many tourist visit the country to
revel with the locals during these festivities.
How can these many natural and manmade attractions inspire you create a
beautiful logo design?
What are the things you need to incorporate into the design to make it
interesting and unique while still being a representative of the province for
which it was created?
Logo Making
A Logo is a symbol or a graphic design created by an organization to
identify and represent its products, uniform, vehicles and the like it is a
design that is used by an organization for its letterhead and advertising
materials it is a symbol by which an Organization can be easily recognized.

Designing a logo can be done easily with the use of the available computer
software An effective logo can play a very important role in brand’s or
company’s market success. A logo is not just a mark it reflects a business
commercial brand through the use of shapes, fonts , colors, and images. It
gives an exceptional market identity and a recall that encourages consumers
customers to patronize the product/ service . Logo are influential tools that
an make consumers trust a product as a unique brand.

Things to consider in creating a logo:

Be Simple
Create a logo with a balance of simple and quirky. Make it interesting
without someone having to sit, stare, and analyse.
Be Dynamic
Design something that will look great on different backgrounds, work
for apps, icons, avatars and print and must be flexible in size. Dynamic logo
will greatly impact a customer’s brand perception, purchase decisions, and
overall attitude towards a product that can affects it’s success.
Be Versatile
Being versatile goes a long way in making a logo design popular. If
your logo great on posters buy horrible on coffee mugs, it will never achieve
popularity.

Add your own style to make your design unique. Find ways of adding
subtle but nightly effective visual interest. It is important that the image
stands out from the rest to help distinguish it from its competitors.
In creating a logo you can use your skills in art by using different
elements and principles of art the impact of a logo is important and
therefore variety of lines, colors, shapes and texture can be used as a come
on the elements of art represented in the logo play an important role in
promoting a brand.

Applying Contrast and Emphasis in Art

In creating any artwork, whether a cartoon character or a logo

design, you should remember to apply the principles of art. Two of these
principles- contrast and emphasis-are described below.

The principle of contrast is vital. It refers to the arrangement of opposite

elements( light vs. dark colors, rough vs. smooth textures, large vs. small
shapes, etc.) in an artwork so as to create visual interest.

Contrast is displayed when elements of art that conflict with one another
are utilized in one frame. For example in the paintings of Juan Luna,
contrast in the element of value( the play of lightness or darkness) is
applied. In his work, Spolarium, one part of Luna’s canvas shows darkness
while some bits of light illuminated the face of a woman. The neutral colors
also highly contrast one another. An artist puts contrast to direct the
viewer’s attention to a specific point of interest within the piece. Finally,
contrast is used to make a painting or anything graphic-related visually
provocative.

Emphasis is a principle of art where one element is given dominance or

priority by the artist. This is achieved by the use of either color, texture,
value, shape, or emphasis.
To put it simply, an artist makes part of the work stand out, in order to
draw attention. In comic books, usually the elements of color, shape, and
lines are used for emphasis instead of texture and value.
Frequently, emphasis is achieved by means of contrast. Obvious contrasting
elements contain points of interest, meaning, certain places within a frame
can draw one’s attention more than its other spots.
