Dengue NS1 Antigen Positive(80.67)* Index Value <1.0 : Negative Index
Method: ELFA Index Value >=1.0 : Positive
Note: Interpretation:
1. Positive result means presence of detectable dengue NS1 antigen. Dengue IgM serology assay should be performed on follow up samples after 5-7
days of onset of fever ,to confirm dengue infection.
2. Negative result for dengue NS1 antigen indicates no detectable dengue NS1 antigen. The result does not rule out dengue infection. An additional
sample should be tested for IgG & IgM serology in 7-14 days
Comment:
• Dengue virus (DENV) belongs to the Flaviviridae family and is transmitted to humans by Aedes mosquitoes. DENV aredivided into four serotypes:
DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 and DEN-4. Clinical diagnosis of DENV infection mainly relies on nonspecificsymptoms (headache, arthralgia, myalgia,
nausea, vomiting, and thrombocytopenia). Laboratory diagnosisrelying on direct and/or indirect methods is used to confirm dengue diagnosis.
