MiniTouch Network Connection Using Static IP Addresses
MiniTouch Network Connection Using Static IP Addresses
Static IP addresses are used if no DHCP server is available in network. For example:
When connecting directly to a PC via a crossed Ethernet cable or via a switch.
Guidelines:
- Use a unique network name and IP address for your network.
- Avoid using “000” or “255” in IP address and Gateway.
- Always fill in a value in IP address, Netmask and Gateway fields.
- Use same subnet in PC and in MiniTouch, in this case IP address first 3 fields of
IP address must be identical in PC and MiniTocuh (i.e. 10.1.1.XXX).
- Use same Port and File port settings in MiniTouch and in MiniTouch
Communicator.
PC TCP/IP setup
Following screendump shows the setup for the LAN connected to the MiniTocuh on a
PC.
The TCP/IP addresses needs to be setup manually for a static IP address connection.
The setup uses same subnet settings as MiniTouch and uses a unique IP address for this
small network.
Testing connection
When PC and MiniTouch network settings are set, it is easy to do a small ping test.
Run windows command line (type cmd from Run prompt).
Type “ping HSAMT” in prompt, where “HSAMT” is the network name you assigned to
MiniTouch in Network menu.
The MiniTouch should reply as below with the IP address you assigned to it.
MiniTouch Communicator setup
Run MiniTouch Communicator and press settings icon to enter the MiniTouch
connection settings.
In “MiniTouch name or IP” type the Network name you assigned to MiniTouch (in this
case “HSAMT”).
Input “Communication port” and “File transfer port” if different from default.
If login is used you could enter the “username” and “password”.
