SESSION -1
( Getting Started with presentation)
1.What is presentation ?

Ans:- A computer-based presentation consists of a set of computer visuals (slides) that you design and
produce to deliver a message to an audience.

2.Define slide show ?

Ans:- A slide show, or slideshow, is a presentation of a series of still images (slides) on a projection screen
or electronic display device, typically in a prearranged sequence

3.Why do we use OOo Impress?

Ans:- Impress is a open office tool to create presentations. It’s very similar to Microsoft’s PowerPoint.
Impress can handle both Microsoft’s PowerPoint format (ppt) as well as its own open standard format
called open document presentation format (odp) which is internationally recognized.

4.Define presentation. How many types of presentation wizard are there in Impress?

Ans:- A presentation is a display of information with graphics, text, sound, movies, etc. The presentation
is displayed on the screen step by step. A presentation contains series of slides. These slides consists of
colour, images and sound,etc.

5.What are the different types of presentation you can create ?

Ans:-

1. Informative presentation
2. Persuasive presentation
3. Demonstration or how-to presentation.
4. Training or instructional presentation. …
5. Sales presentation.
6. Pitch presentation.
7. Motivational or inspirational presentation.
8. Status or progress report presentation.

6.How can create a blank presentation in Impress?

Ans:- Creating presentations. By default, Impress opens with the Select a Template dialog displayed to
select a template for a new presentation. To create a new presentation without a template, click on
Cancel in the Select a Template dialog and a blank slide opens in the Workspace and Slides pane.

1.Differentiate between Slide Sorter view and Slide Show view.

Ans:- Slide Sorter view (below) displays all the slides in your presentation in horizontally sequenced,
thumbnails. Slide show view is helpful if you need to reorganize your slides—you can just click and drag
your slides to a new location, or add sections to organize your slides into meaningful groups

2.What is the use of cut, copy and paste command in Impress?

Ans:- The cut command removes the selected data from its original position, while the copy command
creates a duplicate; in both cases the selected data is kept in temporary storage (the clipboard). The data
from the clipboard is later inserted wherever a paste command is issued.

3.In how many ways can you view a presentation? Name them.

Ans:- It has five tabs: Normal, Outline, Notes, Handout, and Slide Sorter. These five tabs are called View
buttons

4.What is a slide layout?

Ans:- Slide layouts contain formatting, positioning, and placeholder boxes for all of the content that
appears on a slide.

5.How can you duplicate a slide in Impress?

Ans:- Create a new regular slide and do Slide → Change Slide Master and click the Load button. Find the
template you created earlier and choose the master slide you want to duplicate. After clicking OK, the
master slide will be duplicated when you go to the slide masters view where you can rename it and
modify it.

1. What are fonts? Name any two fonts.

Ans:- Typefaces can be divided into two main categories: serif and sans serif. Serifs comprise the
small features at the end of strokes within letters. The printing industry refers to typeface without
serifs as sans serif (from French sans, meaning without), or as grotesque (or, in German, grotesk).

2. What do you mean by alignment?

Ans:- An alignment is support for a particular group, especially in politics, or for a side in a quarrel or
struggle. The church should have no political alignment. 2. Uncountable noun.

3. Write down the steps to insert a bulleted slide in your presentation.

Ans:- On the left-hand side of the PowerPoint window, click a slide thumbnail that you want to add
bulleted or numbered text to. On the slide, select the lines of text in a text placeholder or table that
you want to add bullets or numbering to. On the HOME tab, in the Paragraph group, click Bullets or
Numbering
4. Define the term animation.

Ans:- There are two types of animations in impress. The first are the slide animations. Slide
animations describe the transition from the current to the next slide (for example a slide can just
apear, or maybe fade in or move in from the bottom). The other kind of animations are shape
animations.

5.How does Slide Transition differ from Rehearse Timings?

6.What are the different types of Customs Animations

Ans:- There are four options to apply effects to: the entrance, emphasis, exit and motion paths.
Choose a slide, select an object on the slide, then add your choice of animation. The effect displays
in the Slide pane. Preview the slide show by selecting slide show located at the bottom of the task
pane.

7. How do you start an animation effect?

Ans:- Add animations and effects

1. Select the object or text you want to animate.


2. Select Animations and choose an animation.
3. Select Effect Options and choose an effect.

8.How does bullet differ from numbering?

Ans:- Numbered points are very similar in format to bulleted points except that you usually use
numbers when the order of the list is important – for example the agenda for a meeting. You can
also use letters for this.

1.What is a table?

Ans:- Tables are another tool to display information in Impress. A table is a grid of cells arranged in
rows and columns

2.How can you insert a table in a slide?

Ans:- To insert a table in an Impress slide, you can:

1. Go to the slide where you want to insert the table.


2. Choose Insert – Table or use the Table icon on the Standard toolbar.
3. In the Insert Table dialog box, use the mouse to select the number of rows and columns.
4. Select OK.
5. To add text in a cell, click on a individual cell and then enter your text.

3.Differentiate between splitting and merging ?


Ans:- Merging cells means to combine cells by converting one or more cells into a single cell. Splitting
cells is the reverse of merging cells. It happens when a particular cell is divided into a number of small
cells.

4. How can you format a table?

Ans:- Click in the table that you want to format. Under Table Tools, click the Design tab. In the
Table Styles group, rest the pointer over each table style until you find a style that you want to
use.

5.What types of images can be inserted into a slide?

Ans:- The kinds of image files you can add to a slide in Open Office Impress for the web

• Bmp.
• Gif.
• Jpg and . jpeg.
• Png.
• Tif
• Wmf

6.Name five shapes that are present in the Drawing toolbar.

Ans:- The Drawing toolbar in Impress has many shapes, including:

• Select: Allows you to select and move objects on a slide


• Line: Allows you to draw lines on a slide
• Arrow: Allows you to draw arrows on a slide
• Rectangle: Allows you to draw rectangles on a slide
• Ellipse: Allows you to draw ellipses

Other shapes in the Drawing toolbar include:

• Text, Vertical text, Curve, Basic shapes, Flowcharts, Symbol shapes, Callouts.
• You can quickly insert a line, rectangle, ellipse, or circle by pressing and holding down
the Ctrl key and then clicking on the corresponding icon.

7.How will you insert a picture in your slide?

Ans:- On the Insert menu, point at Picture, and then select Picture From File. In the dialog box
that opens, browse to the picture that you want to insert, select that picture, and then click
Insert.

8.How do you move cell contents of a table in Impress?

Ans:- Select a cell or a cell range. Select Home > Cut or press Ctrl + X. Select a cell where you
want to move the data. Select Home > Paste or press Ctrl + V.
