Writing Task 1
You have to change the given lesson plan in order to make it more relevant for
candidates.
1 Give students time to read the paragraphs and study the graphs, and then let them
compare answers and ideas. After checking their answers, ask what they think the
two vertical scales represent (A: grams per person per week; B: percentages). Then
read through the two paragraphs again, highlighting each key expression. Focus on
the word trend and point out that identifying overall trends is one of the most
important aspects of graph interpretation.
2 Read through the expressions in the box, checking understanding as necessary,
before students do the task.
3 Monitor students' work and, after checking, focus on the organization of the text,
looking at how different components of the graph are linked (coherence).
If they are having problems, give extra practice with these or other graphs before
doing Exercise 4. This could be in the form of Give me a sentence about the graph
using 'reached a peak', for example.
4 Extra text is suitable for class or homework.

Writing task 2

Some people say that now we can see films on our phones or tablets, there is no
need to go to the cinema. Others say that to be fully enjoyed, films need to be seen in
a cinema.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
These days, some people believe that going to the cinema for watching the films,
would be useless because people can see them on their phones or tablets. others
say that to be fully enjoyed with saying the films, people should go to the cinema.
in this essay I will outline these to viewpoints.
On the one hand, those who believe that they can see the films on their phones
rather than going to the cinema have several ideas. firstly, they could save time by
watching the films on the electronic devices. as peo ple don’t need to devote a
considerable portion of the time to planning for going out, they would have extra
time. they usually should arrive the cinema At least 3 hours in advance to book a
seat, which can be very time-consuming.
moreover, they can save money. because people who would like to go for the
cinema, should spend a great deal of money in order to fill up their car with petrol
which is very expensive. if people can see the films on the phones, they will avoid
of wasting their money for such an expensive fuel.
on the other hand, some people State several reasons for going to the cinema.
they can see the films on the biggest screen which can be very enjoyable. as it can
give the audiences a sense of excitement which can add to the pleasure of the f ilm
itself. this is because the actors and other elements in the film are bigger than
usual.
what’s more, they believe that seeing the feelings along with other people in the
cinema could be more enjoyable than other ways of seeing a film. because a lot of
people are present in the cinema which could create the Sound by encouraging a
character or shouting. dysfunction can be energizing which leads people to having
a sense of more satisfaction.
in conclusion, some people say that they could save time and mo ney by seeing the
feelings on the phones, whereas, others believe that the excitement of the biggest
screen and other people led to having more satisfaction I hold the view that going
to cinema with the more enjoyable.

Listening
What spoilers can be found in this extract?
S And. of course, there's a cost to the economy as well. I'm not sure what the figure
would be, but I do know that the number of disability claims relating to RSI has gone
up dramatically in recent years. Back in 1990, the percentage of total disability
claims was just 1.7 per cent, but by 1998, this had gone up to 22.5 per cent. So
almost a quarter! And it's a trend that looks set to continue.
So what causes RSI? Well, what happens when you stay in one position for any
length of lime is that you're only using part of your body. That means that certain
muscles and ligaments aren't moved or stretched. As a result, they tighten up,
and this leads to problems. It's a very painful condition and it can take months of rest
to recover from it.
And is there any way of avoiding these problems? Well, first of all, try not to spend too
long on any one task. If you've got a lot of typing to do, try to take a mini-break every
ten minutes or so. Just look away from the computer and move your shoulders, arms
and wrists. Then every half hour, you should take a longer break away from your
desk. Go and have a cup of coffee, make a phone call or just stretch your legs for a
few moments.
