GENERALLY WE HAVE NEED TO MEASURE

Parameter Given Estimated with sewing allowance

a) Chest 96cm 102 cm

b) HPS 65cm 70 cm
c) Sleeve Length 20cm 25 cm
d) Arm hole 46cm 49 cm
e) Neck 58cm 61 cm
f) Neck width 2+2=4cm 7 cm
2

g) Bottom hem 2cm

฀ GENERALLY ALLOWANCE IS TAKEN AROUND 1.5CM BUT IT IS NOT FIXED

BECAUSE THIS ALLOWANCE IS DEPEND ON FABRIC TYPE LIKE COTTON, LYCRA,
VISCOSEETC.
฀Formula:
Cpd = L x W x 12 x GSM kg
10000000
Where Cpd = Consumption per dozen
L = Length
W = Width
A) Cpd (body) = L x W x 12 x GSM kg
10000000
= 70 x 102x 12 x 150 kg
10000000
= 1.28 kg
B) Cpd (Sleeve) = L x W x 12 x 2 x GSM kg
10000000
= 25 x 49 x 12 x 2 x 150 kg
10000000
= 0.44 kg
Factory formuale:
Consumption/dozen= length x width X G.S.M /1550/1000/9 x 12

C) Cpd (Neck) = L x W x 12 x GSM kg

10000000
= 61 x 7 x 12 x 180 kg
10000000
= 0.092 kg
So, total Cpd = (A + B+C)
= (1.28 + 0.44 + 0.09) kg
= 1.81 kg
Actual Cpd = Total Cpd + 7% wastage
= (1.81 + 7%)
= 1.94 kg
So, the fabric consumption for men’s T-shirt is 1.94 kg per dozen.

Math: 02
฀ Question: Fabric weight 50 kg, Fabric width 40 inch (tube) GSM 180. What is
fabric length in meter?

Ans:
Fabric weight in Kg = Length (Meter) X Width (Meter) X GSM in Kg

W (Kg) = l x w x GSM
50 = l x (40x 2.54x 2)/ 100 X 180/1000
L = 136.70 meter
= 136.70 x 1.0937 yds [ 1 meter = 1.0937 yds]
= 149.50 yds

Math: 03
Question: Fabric price 2.25 USD/ yds, Width 45 inch open, GSM 200,
Consumption 3.20 kg / doz, What is the garment fabric cost for per doz garments?

Ans:
W (kg) = L (M) X w (M) X GSM (kg)
= L (M) X (45X2.54)/100 X 200/1000
L (M) = (3.20 X100X 1000) / (45X 2.54 X 200)
= 13.99 (M)
= 13.99 X 1.0937 yds
= 15.30 yds
Fabric cost (Per doz gmt) = Length X Unit price/ yd
= 15.30 x 2.25
= 34.56 USD / Doz

Consumption Calculation for Woven Basic Pant

Fabric width =60
1. ½ Waist Cir =46cm+8(SA) =54cm
2. Front Rise =28incl.WB +8(SA) =36 cm
3. ½ Thighs Cir. =36 cm + 6(SA) = 42cm
4. Inseam length =82 cm + 3(SA) =85 cm

Consumption formula = (½ Waist cir. ×front rise) ×2+ (½ Thigh cir.

×Inseam length) ×4÷36 ÷59+ wastes %= YDS/PC

{In case of size measurement in CM to divide by 6.45 (Sq cm) otherwise not}

Consumption Formula for S/Slv. T-Shirt:

{1/2 Chest x (Body Length + Sleeve Length)} x 2 x GSM /1ooooooo+Wastage% = Kg/Pc

Consumption Formula for Woven Shirt:

{1/2 Chest x (CB Length + Sleeve Length)} x 2 /36 /Fabric width + Wastage% = Yds/Pcs

Knit fabric consumption from marker:

Marker (for 9 pc marker) = {(Length x Width) x12x GSM}/ (1550x1000x9) +
Wastage% = Kg/dz

Woven fabric consumption from marker:

Marker length = 5yds 13”

Fabric width = 43” or 42.5”
Shipment quantity =1000dz
For 5pcs marker
5yds 13” = 5pcs
5yds 13/36 = 5pcs
5.36yds = 5pcs
5.36/5 x 12 = 12.86 yds/dz
Fabric required = 1000dz x 12.86 yds + 5%

=13503 yds

Price for 1 dozen Men’s T-shirt:

Pre-requisites: Costing Unit price

1. Fabric consumption 2 kg/dz $10.0/kg $20/kg

2. Accessories $4/dz $4/dz
3. CM (cost of manufacturing) $4/dz $4/dz
Total = $18 $28

A) Direct cost (raw materials)=$28.0

B) Indirect cost (15% to 30% of direct cost)

Indirect cost= $28.0 x 30%
= $8.4
Total= $28.0 + $8.4
= $36.4
So, the cost for 1 dozen men’s T-shirt is $36.4
