FRENCH LANGUAGE
It’s a mixture of 3 languages:
1. Vulgar Latin also known as Colloquial Latin (Informal Latin) originating from the Roman
invasion of foreign territories.
2. Gaulish which was known as the language of Gaul (Old name of France, Luxembourg,
Belgium, most of Switzerland, Northern Italy and some parts of Netherlands and Germany)
3. Frankish (Language of the Franks i.e Germanic People)

1.Greeting someone in French

Bon (Adj.) ----- Good


Bonjour : Hello, Good morning, Good Day
jour (noun) ----- Day

Literal meaning: Good Day

2.Asking someone’s name in French :


Comment vous appelez-vous? (How do you call yourself?)

Verb used: s’appeler which means "to call oneself"

Word in English: Appellation which means "a name" or "title"
