Overview
This document provides the practical tasks aligned with the Class 10 Information Technology

Practical File Requirement


The practical file should contain printouts of the practicals done using Writer (DIGITAL
DOCUMENTATION), Calc (ELECTRONIC SPREADSHEET), and Base (DATABASE
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM) with a minimum of 5 problems of each. Additionally,
documentation of each task with screenshots and explanations should be included.

Section 1: Case Study Using Base


Objective:

 Summarize real-world data in reports using Base.


 Input data through forms and generate output using reports.

Steps:

1. Choose a Real-World Case Study: Select any interdisciplinary topic such as:
o School management system
o Sales and inventory system
o Hospital patient records
o Library management system
2. Data Collection:
o Identify the fields required for your case study (e.g., Name, Age, Date,
Product Name).
3. Database Creation:
o Create a database in Base.
o Design tables based on the identified fields.
4. Input Forms:
o Design forms for data entry.
o Input sample data using these forms.
5. Data Reports:
o Use Base to generate summarized reports based on your data.
oExamples of reports include monthly sales summary, attendance records, etc.
6. Documentation:
o Write a report using Writer explaining the case study, tables, and reports
generated.

Deliverables:

 Database file (.odb)


 Summarized data reports (printouts)
 Documentation (using Writer)

Section 2: Practical Problems Using Writer


Objective:

 Create, format, and document information using Writer.

Tasks:

1. Create a formal letter using proper formatting.


2. Draft a school project report with:
o Cover page
o Table of contents
o Proper headings and subheadings
o Page numbers
3. Design a newsletter with:
o Columns
o Images and captions
o Styles for headlines and subheadings
4. Prepare a resume with a professional layout.
5. Create a mail merge document for sending invitations.

Deliverables:

 Printouts of each task from Writer.

Section 3: Practical Problems Using Calc


Objective:

 Analyze and visualize data using Calc.

Tasks:
1. Create a student grade sheet:
o Input student names and marks.
o Calculate total marks, percentage, and grades using formulas.
2. Design a household budget planner:
o List income and expenses.
o Use formulas to calculate monthly savings.
3. Generate sales analysis:
o Input sales data.
o Use charts (bar, line, pie) to visualize data trends.
4. Develop a timetable with conditional formatting:
o Highlight specific days or tasks using conditions.
5. Use filtering and sorting on a dataset:
o Input a large dataset.
o Apply filters and sort based on specific criteria.

Section 4: Practical Problems Using Base


Objective:

 Create and manage databases using Base.

Tasks:

1. Design a student database:


o Create tables for student details and marks.
o Generate queries to find top-performing students.
2. Develop a library management system:
o Tables for books, borrowers, and transactions.
o Create reports for overdue books.
3. Build a small business inventory database:
o Tables for products, suppliers, and sales.
o Generate monthly inventory reports.
4. Create a hospital record system:
o Tables for patient details and appointments.
o Reports for patient visit summaries.
5. Create a transportation system:
o Tables for vehicle details and drivers.
o Reports for maintenance schedules.

Deliverables:

 Database file (.odb) with forms, queries, and reports.


Portfolio Requirements
 Printouts of all tasks performed using Writer, Calc, and Base.
 A minimum of 5 problems solved for each tool (Writer, Calc, Base).
