Trigonometry is useful in the real world although many might not see it, it allows us

solve problems involving angles and distances. Trigonometry can be applied in many different

fields such as architecture and engineering, where it is used to calculate structural angles and

lengths. Sine, cosine, and tangent are three trigonometric functions that are related to angles in a

right triangle. In a right triangle, the sine is the ratio of the length of the opposite side and angle

to the length of the hypotenuse. Cosine is the ratio of the length of the side adjacent to and the

angle to the length of the hypotenuse in a right triangle. Tangent is the ratio of the length of the

side opposite the angle to the length of the side adjacent to the angle in a right triangle. These

three functions are tied together and can be used to determine the missing side lengths or angles

in a right triangle. They’re fundamental in trigonometry and have various applications in fields

like physics, engineering, and navigation. Furthermore, resolving the two problems, "blood

pressure modeling" and "distance between two cities," contributes to Barry University's mission

and core commitments. These are everyday life things that apply to us as students and Barry's

mission is to provide students with an intellectual life by creating a learning environment. My

knowledge of solutions to these problem contribute to Barry’s Mission Statement because it

supports the idea that learning leads to knowledge and truth, reflection leads to informed action

and commitment to social justice leads to colaborative service. We expand our knowledge on

trignonemtry while also learning and development is encouraged through understanding.
